For Selene, time had always been a slow, slow river, its current dragging her. She was used to long and boring days.
But today, the river flowed like a flash flood. One moment, she was confiding in Blaize about her deepest, most secret desire—a desperate wish to know who her mother was. The next, Isolde was there, and the three of them were a trio of anticipation towards the festival with their evening stretching out before them.
And then, the evening itself came just as quickly.
