The three women sat in silence, the air thick with unspoken thoughts. Blaize broke the spell first, clearing her throat before settling back onto the bed.
It was a silent invitation for the others to join her. Selene took Isolde's hand, and led her to sit beside Blaize. Then, with an easy grace, she moved to the side table and perched on the edge, pulling her tray of food closer.
"This smells so good, Isolde. Thank you," Selene said, a genuine smile lighting up her face as she looked at her meal of soup and fresh fruit.
Blaize's eyes had followed Selene's movements. She glanced at the tray, a puzzled expression on her face. Soup and fruit… that looks like a meal for someone sick, she thought to herself.
Isolde caught the look and quickly jumped in, trying to distract Blaize from any suspicion. "Your crescent hair pin is absolutely gorgeous, My Lady," she said, her voice bright.
It wasn't a lie.
