Chapter 19 - (18) After So Many Years

I zapped it, replacing it with an orange, the blue orb sitting in my palm.

It was nearly as heavy as the flower paperweight, and around the same size. With a sigh, I looked at the other things in the small room, plucking a scroll.

After reading it, I nodded.

"I see... all the trouble the siblings have costed the country in the passed six years are kept here... tch!"

I waved my hand, a magic green encasing all of the bookshelves before disappearing. The scrolls looked like normal. However- in reality they were all blank sheets.

I had taken all the real scrolls and documents with me. For safe keeping, of course.

"... I should leave now. I've probably set off countless of-"

Suddenly, I heard Daniel's voice in my own head.

"Elodie! Quickly hurry up and and leave! The prince suddenly appeared, but he didn't see me!"

"What?" My face became serious. "The people here. Did you-"

There was a loud sound that interrupted our conversation. I winced, feeling my magical barrier take damage.

"Elodie! Quickly leave!" Daniel continued to communicate telepathically with me.

"The people we found here? Are you with them?"

"What are you talking about? I had to leave them!"

"What?" I clenched my jaw, thinking deeply.

"Elodie, you're running out of time! If they break in they'll put another barrier down, stopping you from leaving!"

With a sigh, I lifted my hand, tapping my head.

"So be it." I muttered. Daniel's voice instantly vanished. "Since when has he been able to communicate telepathically? Tch."

"Elodie. You can't run away anymore!" It was Duncan's voice. I sighed, lifting my hands.

I let my barrier come down willingly, the door was busted open. "Trap her! Don't let her leave the gates!"

I raised my hand, bringing myself outside. The sun returned to hitting my face.

Duncan smiled. "You came out here all on your own. I'll enjoy this..."

I only ignored him, facing the dead bodies in the corner, piled up one after another. I walked over to them, Duncan lifted his hand, a sword pointed towards me.

It made my mood worsen.

"Behave!" With a flick of my hand his sword was shattered into a million pieces. "You kill your own people... you steal from your country. And yet- You dare call yourself Prince of Kindness?"

When I looked at Duncan, I was met with a calm man I had seen many times before. I couldn't help but let out a scoff. He raised his hand towards me.

"Nice to see you as well, Elodie."

"You are bold.." I raised both of my hands, allowing the magic to swirl into orbs the size of boulders. "You think I won't kill you here and now?"

He still had his arms outstretched with a relaxed face. "Theres no need to think such things."

It was beginning to anger me, but I smiled brighter. "Oh, do you think you will be able to stop me?"

Duncan walked closer to me. In his royal clothes. "Elodie. We should talk less. More action!"

He flicked his arm revealing sharp stars that fired at me. His aim was uncontrolled. As if over six years, he had only gotten weaker.

"Really? Is that what we are doing?" His shots either missed or shattered by the time they reached me. I looked at him, confused. "What am I supposed to be afraid of?"

He smiled, raising both of his arms together. "This."

The hairs on my neck stood. I quickly made a swirl of wind surround me. The sharp stars that had missed were heading towards me like a boomerang. "... nothing but cheap party tricks?"

With a drop of a raised hand, all the stars were obliterated. Wind shot out from the collision, carrying dust all around us. I jumped up, high in the air while aiming down at the ground.

With a wave the wind of dust constricted around Duncan. He coughed, blocking his eyes. Hand gestures that summoned wind came before me. I slammed it into his back.

Duncan turned around, swatting my hand away. But I was too close and moving too fast for him to use his powers effectively. The hand to hand combat becoming overwhelming.

I caught him off guard when I swung my arm. He blocked it with both hands. "... You're too weak to win in an actual fight against me. Duncan."

I brought my other hand back, driving my fist hard into his stomach. He stumbled to keep his balance, even as he stabilized himself. He shook his head, trying to help his vision.

"Duncan. The crippled boy that was inside the house seemed to have a lot of trust in you, you know." My fists shook as I stared at him, the swirl of wind getting stronger. "And yet- you still killed him."

He charged after me, launching a punch. I blocked it easily, wrapping my hand around his fist. His jaw tightened while he stared at me, eyes full of hate.

My own expression must've mimicked his own. "You ruthless boy. Killing all of these people that trusted you. Do you see where you've made your first mistake?"

"Go back to the hell you crawled out of!" He tried to shank me with a dagger in his hand, I caught his wrist, crippling both arms. "You evil witch!!!!"

I scoffed, squeezing his hands harder until I heard bones pop. "No. Actually. Your first mistake was coming up with that idiotic plan of yours to begin with. Don't you think?"

He was yelling loudly. The magic coursing through my palms only made the pain worse.

"No... no!" Duncan tried to pull his hands back from me to no success.

"You knew that crippled boy was cursed, didn't you?" I finally dropped his hand, kicking him away. "I've only repaid the favor. May all of them Rest In Peace."

"You!" He screamed, looking up at me while panting, fading in and out of consciousness. "My, my brother will find you and make you pay... you won't be safe any longer!!"

"...Tell him to come find me when he's done playing king. Alright then?"

Duncan could say nothing else as the pain inflicted became too unbearable. He passed out on the ground.

The guards still surrounded me, unmoving.

"Get out of the way or die." I snarled coldly.

They all heard my words and looked between one another. With small but quick steps, the door was left unblocked.
