Liam and the blonde guy exchanged a glance before stepping into the elevator. The doors slid shut, and the elevator descended smoothly, the soft hum of the machinery the only sound in the enclosed space. The basement was large, roughly the size of a hall, but it was mostly empty. A few scattered items lay here and there—a worn-out couch pushed against one wall, a cluttered desk in the corner, and a handful of guild-related items strewn about haphazardly. The walls were bare concrete, stained with age and neglect, and the floor was a dull, scuffed tile that had seen better days. The air was thick with the scent of dampness and the faint hum of an old, struggling air conditioning unit.
