Chapter 36 - Reminisced Sorrow

Mewtwo's red glaring eyes pierce through the pitch black visor as it stares at Ava's heel; holding it in place. "Deluxe! Sear that dumb as fuck flower!"

Madelis sighs, withdrawing her floette before Deluxe's flames could hit their target. "Slandit, finish this! Mewtwo stop holding back and just kill them!"

Mewtwo weaves backwards and catches Keta's bullet punch. "Now!" Keta leaps away as Lygn shoots a dark sapphire orb from her touching knuckles.

Mewtwo sharply inhales, whipping its head back with the corner of its mouth leaving trails of darkening smoke.

Madelis covers her face. "Slandit, use poison gas!"

Slanditt mimics Mewtwo as they both open their mouths; Slanditt's gapping maw is met with a flamethrower straight in the mouth. Mewtwo's turbulent vortex of black energy shoots right through the Aura sphere.

Ava windmill kicks Mewtwo in its chin, cutting the attack short of hitting Lygn. "Shut up, your stinking the hole damn room"

Mewtwo glares down at Ava before psychic energy drags her through the floor and tosses her into the wall. He did not like that… fair.

"Ava!" Aelita's voice rings through the chaotic battle as a vacuum in the air whirrs.

… …

The darkness of Ava's subconscious is illuminated with a warm orange hue, the cold rock engulfs her like molten magma. A loud hoarse voice screams, in her psyche; "IWANTMYMOTHER!MOTHER!MOTHER!MOTHERMOTHERMOTHERMOTHERMOTHERMOTHERMOTHERMOTHERMOTHERMOTHERMOTHERMOTHERMOTHERMOTHER!...just want to be with my mother… please." Half of Ava's body feels frost bit and riddled as the other half melts with a searing heat, she looks down and sees Aelita's half melted body slowly submerge into the lava along with other corpses. "just let me die. let me meet my mother again."

 …

A soft commanding voice taps at Ava's returning consciousness. "Her eyes are fluttering, I'll be taking my leave then… Don't let her take these risks so easily." They walk away as another vacuum in space opens. "Please."

"Right!" Aelita chirps at the closing wormhole. "Ava! You gotta wake up! I-She, Sensei is in danger!"

The young combatant stirs with a groan. "Why?…" Ava sits up , her shadow dripping off her back. "Oh, hey Aelita." She yawns, getting to her feet. "Thanks for looking after me."

Aelita blushes. "Ah well that's what friends are for Ava." Ava's eyes dart around the cramp metal room, green sludge oozes from worn out barrels encrusted in rust. "Yeah, I'm pretty sure we're still in Madelis's lab… That friend of yours really didn't teleport us far for some reason…"

"She has a habit of that."

"I know this isn't quite the time but-"

"No I don't." Aelita recoils at the answer to a question she didn't ask. "He didn't want to lose what was important to him again, I feel like I was there before."

Ava starts walking towards the hallway. "But-... There has to be a point," Aelita's usually firm confident voice fully wavers. "A point where you've gone too far, right?" She takes a hesitant step towards Ava and the hallway.

"In the eyes of others yes, even to his eyes there is a sense of doubt; but it's fogged over with the fear of what you'll do when you lose it, the dread of having to continue without it…" Ava turns to Aelita, both of their eyes gloss in the dim light of the sewage room. "You should hate him, be angry at the mere thought of him; because he feels that same way deep inside, but he felt compelled to be the way he was."

"Should I still believe in him like this?" The purple haired girl looks down. "It's like my very soul is telling me that he's doing this for everyone."

Ava takes a moment, her eyes darting from Aelita and their surrounding environment. "Eh, I don't know; you knew him for longer. I just wanted to vent a bit." Ava stretches with a forced moan. "You got any heals? I think Deluxe might've pulled a muscle back there. She went 0 and 4 before I got clonked out."

A nervous laugh escapes the purple haired girl amidst her displaced sense of self. "I do have a few, I was hoping to save these to go against Sensei." Aelita and Ava wander around, exchanging items and jokes before coming to a large metal door.

Ava looks to the keypad beside it and a small butterfly with translucent blue wings flies from it. "JUST LET ME DIE!! I DON'T WANT TO BE HERE!" The loud voice booms in her head far more clearly as heat pours from the door.

The prophet smiles and tosses out a Luxuryball. "Deluxe!" her bipedal canine as it smiles and waits for ear scratches. Ava scratches her gullet with a stare that Deluxe has seen before, she clasps her paws on the trainer's shirt. "Don't worry I aim to come back this time… But I need you to make sure Aelita can get out."

Aelita's head snaps over to Ava upon hearing her name. "Huh? Why? I can help you know!" The girl's dark magenta irises subtly shake and shrink.

"You will by warning them that I'm about to blow their core." Ava's hand hovers over the control panel. "My ride out of here is always watching so I'll get out easily, but not all of the grunts here deserve to die." Ava smirks at her companion. Eli and Sharon are lucky I like them, I don't even know if I can do this. That explosion along with the lava that'll come rushing after the fight is above what Deluxe can do, and I don't want to think about trying to copy Moel's… Looks like I'll be copying Mewtwo's ugly ass.
