"I…" Bale stuttered, his voice failing him as he witnessed Grey glaring at him with a gaze that felt like a physical weight.
He opened his mouth to speak, but the words died in his throat, and he quickly clamped it shut again.
"You think I'm joking, right?" Grey said coldly.
Without warning, he reached out and gripped Bale's face with a hand wreathed in roaring flames.
The Town Lord screamed at the top of his lungs, the agonizing heat of the fire searing his flesh instantly.
"How does it feel to be scorched by a power so similar to your own?"
"Arghhhhhh! Pl… please stop! Arghhhhhh!" Bale shrieked, his body thrashing in a desperate attempt to escape the contact, but Grey's grip was unrelenting.
"I… I will tell you everything, just please, let me live!"
"Now, that's a good boy," Grey remarked, his voice devoid of emotion as he released Bale's scorched face.
Tears welled in Bale's eyes, dripping down and stinging his blackened, peeling skin.
