"I guess the jig is up then," Grey sighed as he observed approximately thirty mages rushing toward their position with aggressive intent.
"Hold on, sir!" Grey shouted with his hands raised high in a disarming gesture.
The thirty men who were charging toward them suddenly halted their advance, while the Town Lord raised a skeptical eyebrow at the interruption.
"Why do you desire to attack us so abruptly? Does it truly matter if she is Lord Cedric's daughter? Isn't it the town's deed you actually want? So, just take the document and let us depart in peace," Grey suggested, offering a sheepish smile toward the local ruler.
"Do you honestly take me for a fool? Haha!" The Town Lord erupted in laughter.
"You see… I already possessed the knowledge that she would arrive here accompanied by some formidable mages."
Charlotte and her companions were instantly shocked upon hearing the Town Lord's revelation, their faces paling as the trap became clear.
