Smack dab in the middle of what could only be described as guerrilla warfare, or well, just pure evasion, five figures moved with urgency through a dense, mutated forest.
It was dangerous, unpredictable, and filled with the kind of creatures that could chew through mecha plating like cardboard.
Naturally, this was the perfect place for five humans to decide to walk. Stealthily.
No mechas. No heavy armor. Just stealth.
Or at least, a couple of them thought they were moving stealthily.
Jax crouched low behind a giant root that looked suspiciously like a fossilized snake. His expression was serious. The whole creeping-around thing really spoke to him on a spiritual level. Every rustle of a leaf, every whisper of air—he felt like he was in a movie. A very low-budget film, but a movie nonetheless.
