The food was nothing special—mostly the same usnea berries as everywhere else, but here they were arranged in slightly different dishes. What surprised Ramwill the most was that the locals had so many dodo birds that they could afford to actually eat them!
They were precious, after all. Malevolence brought only a few dozen with her, and they were carefully drained of blood every week to give health to the chosen people. After witnessing what their blood could do, Ramwill wouldn't even think about killing one of them for meat.
But lo and behold!
Their meat was delicious after subsisting on mostly berries for so long.
The dancers were also beautiful, not that Ramwill paid much attention to their dances.
Finally, the celebration moved to the temple and became more sombre. Ramwill's Vardish servants, bodyguards, advisers and other escorts visibly sobered as they stepped on these holy grounds. But they were only following the mood of the locals.
