It only had five tiers. Right now, I could give it to any of the existing morphotypes, not just to the new one. But with the limit break, I could immediately read the effect of the upgraded gene.
Undecided looked up at me with wide eyes, then nodded and closed them. The Council waited patiently while she scryed and recorded the results of her scrying on paper.
Then she passed it to me and I read it.

'Wild!' Whisper said. Her astral projection, invisible to our senses, must've floated closer to read over my shoulders. In the next second, I heard her reading the gene to the entire Council.
