Chapter 210 - Source Origin(57)

Was motion change, was change motion?

Abstract designs, choices, apathy, dust, corrosion, rain falling, gravity, time, wasn't it all just motion, or perhaps all change, but on the other hand, experiences, weren't experiences all, what were they in the first place...

Pain and laughing, happiness and destruction, everything you see, all that happens, all that you think, is an experience in some way, wasn't it...

Was this how the great pillars worked, by simply stretching what they were so much they encompassed some kind of semblance of everything, that they became what they are by making what they are become them....

And in the first place, what was he even thinking, how was he understanding this, but unable to even grasp at the way the woman, the being, the pillar, the thing, in front of him looked, or even sounded, as she was now beginning to speak, though she hadn't begun yet, but still, Leyk felt the imminent everything, the sound, the feeling, the something of motion itself beginning to convey intent, which, in some way, was also just motion, after all...

It began, or perhaps it had always been begun, it had always been started, perhaps it had bever been finished, and never been going on, perhaps he had spent years, decades waiting, perhaps just mere seconds, probably the second, but still, it was there, and still, it wasn't there.

Surprisingly enough, the words, or at least that which was supposed to be words, were quite clear and concrete, something he hadn't expected in his current situation, not at all, but it made him certain of one thing, it made him certain that this thing, whatever it was, was not the true great pillar of motion, it was but a messenger, and perhaps not even that powerful of a messenger, or perhaps, it was just a meagre and weak part of the great pillar sent here to bring the message, there was no real way to tell.

Leyk Kirgun, child of ehetria, failure of the old one, bearer of the unfavourable mark, accursed of the forgotten, one tarnished by himself, you have been passed as acceptable, though we still wish to conclude one more test, a test of progress and the future, a test to show you where you truly stand, a test in which you shall meet an enemy that you'll have to face in the future, an enemy you can't avoid eternally.

You shall fight one last battle, but remember, this battle, though it is unorthodox, and though battled at the same rank, does not decide anything, for your life is save with us, we shall protect you, you shall not go onto the silver trees to be hanged, you shall not go and move the cogs of eternity, you shall not be sent to a paradise, and not to any hell you believe in, you shall simply be safe for now.

Now, let it resume, and let them watch as you fight your last opponent, an opponent whose name we will give you, for you should know that, by the request of someone who requested to remain anonymous, someone we owed many a favour, for you are within his interest.

Your last opponent shall be Lord Vexxen, someone destined to be found soon once you re-enter the plane of the forsaken, the trash of the gods, the eternal plane filled with despair.

Lord Vexxen... the pillar of inspiration had already mentioned that name, why was it being mentioned again, and what did it matter, no, the being had already explained that, though the fear of eternity had been scaring him shitless all this time, he had still been able to think and understand, though he didn't really think, he just realized and continued to realize, as if he had bene concentrating not for seconds and the n for centuries, a state in which his ideas and continuation just flowed, something incredible, especially since ideas had to move to be ideas, and ideas were progress, the movement of an entire culture, so, he was moving, probably because they allowed that kind of movement, which meant, they wanted something, they wanted him to realize something he hadn't yet understood, something he was perhaps bound to fail.

Leyk was standing still, everything back to normal, his memory begotten, besmirched, his mind in chaos and yet calm as he looked ahead, thinking, words in his head that had certainly been left there by the so-called great pillar of motion, words he was afraid he knew the meaning off already.

First there was motion, then there was dust, then there began the experiences, then there was absence, the nothingness threading itself between all, then there was the choice of live and death that drove all beings, then there was the first mistake, the first inconsistency to be created in the perfection of all things, then there was both randomness and certainty, twins born of everything and nothing, having been created together, then there was relations who connected all things, then there was the absence of purpose, stagnation.

He knew the dominions of the great pillars, ten in number.

The great pillar of Motion, the great pillar of experiences, the great pillar of absence, the great pillar of alternativity, the great pillar of inconsistency, the great pillar of randomness, the great pillar of history, the great pillar of relativity, the great pillar of stagnation.

Leyk wasn't able to understand it yet, he just knew their titles, he didn't have the gall to think about what they were capable of doing too much yet, he was too scared, and on top of that, even more pressing, there was someone there, in front of him, there was standing a man in black cloth, tightly wrapped and elegantly created, calm, ready, a sword in hand, lightly held, surprisingly short, but quivering slightly, but that wasn't what was unnerving about this enemy.

The black mask the man wore, the gender being relatively obvious, be it only instinctual, had only holes for eyes, small and slit-like, like those of a snake, but there, and was otherwise completely flat and mirrored, showing his own face, no emotions readable, a complete uplifting of all that had happened in this place until now, this endlessly tall stone pillar, though the monsters seemed to be gone now, only the old man, seemingly slightly scared, watching, something else having begun to settle, something chaotic but still.
