Actually, saying it's a wolf infestation might be a bit of an exaggeration; it's really just around 400 or so gray wolves appearing near human gathering areas within the Yukon River Basin, within a 300 km range on both sides of Fairbanks...
But even these 400 or so gray wolves have caused massive trouble and loss for the people.

With reconnaissance from small jungle planes, once a wolf pack was found, the Black Hawk would carry a group of 'Cleaners' wielding machine guns and hunt them from the air.
This method proved ineffective for wolf packs hiding in the mountains and forests, but worked well for those active on the plains or hills.
