Over the past forty days, there have been two more heavy snowfalls in eastern Alaska, and the area surrounding Brown Bear Camp is now completely covered in snow.
However, there seems to be no preparations for winter hibernation at Brown Bear Camp. A loader continuously shuttles between the camp and the runway, clearing the snow from the roads, making it easier for several old trucks to transport supplies to the camp for storage.
The large oil depot near the runway has already been filled with gasoline, enough to meet the needs of the camp and surrounding native residents throughout the winter.
Little Ruby was extremely excited. He had stayed at Brown Bear Camp for over forty years and had never felt so confident about facing the harsh winter as this year.
