Chapter 125

There are twenty-four days until the first competition event.

Soren was not worried at all about the upcoming competition.

It would be best if everything unfolds according to the original plot; he was already well-prepared. Even if the plot deviates and the first event is not the Dragon, that's fine; he will rely on brute strength to overcome it, using absolute power to break through.

He is absolutely confident that if he unleashes his full power, he is undoubtedly the strongest among the four participants.

This is not arrogance; rather, his strength has far exceeded what is expected of a student. He does not fear even an ordinary adult wizard.

Successfully being selected to participate in the Triwizard Tournament has achieved the first goal he planned for this semester at Hogwarts. Being exempt from the end-of-term exams means he has more time to pursue his own plans. At the same time, using the preparation for the competition as an excuse, he can justifiably ask professors for more advanced learning guidance and clarification.

In contrast, the situation for Harry is quite the opposite.

After classes resumed, he could no longer avoid the other students at school, and it was evident that students from the other houses believed Harry had signed up for the tournament himself. They seemed to think this was not a very honorable thing.

After all, Harry is not Soren .

Regardless of whether one likes Soren or the Malfoy family, no young wizard can deny Soren 's strength.

Not to mention, after killing the Basilisk and battling the Dementors, Soren 's feats against Mad-Eye Moody have become well-known, along with his ability to break free from the Imperius Curse purely through willpower.

Although Soren is also a fourth-year student like Harry, everyone has high hopes for him, hoping he can bring honor to Hogwarts. No one would think that his selection was unearned.

And what about Harry?

Most young wizards seem to believe that Harry used underhanded means to trick the Goblet of Fire into participating in the Triwizard Tournament, purely to satisfy his desire for fame and attention. Let's not forget that Harry has a history of arriving at school via a flying car.

In their view, Harry's actions are seen as stealing Soren 's honor and tarnishing Hogwarts' reputation.

Ernie Macmillan and Justin Finch-Fletchley, who used to have a good relationship with Harry, are no longer speaking to him, even though the three of them are on the same tray transplanting bouncing bulb stems—however, when a bouncing bulb stem wriggles free from Harry's hand and hits him hard in the face, they all laugh gleefully, making one feel quite uncomfortable.

Ron is also not talking to Harry anymore because he believes Harry deceived him by signing up for the Triwizard Tournament, which he finds very inconsiderate. Hermione sits between the two, struggling to find words to ease the tension among the trio.

It is worth mentioning that this semester, Hermione has grown significantly in her mindset compared to her character in the original story. At the very least, she has learned to accept the differences in values from others and to weigh and compromise.

She has begun to reflect on her own personality; she used to be overly self-satisfied, and to put it bluntly, self-centered, with zero emotional intelligence. She liked to impose her thoughts, values, and beliefs on others, without considering the reasons and intentions behind others' actions at all.

This time, she did not criticize Ron for his childishness; instead, she tried to understand the feelings of betrayal and discomfort he was experiencing.

She expressed understanding of Ron's feelings and made an effort to empathize with him from his perspective, guiding him.

She told him that everyone is special and has their own place—there is no need to deliberately become what others want, because she knows that as the youngest son, Ron has been under too much pressure from his older brothers. Most of this pressure is self-imposed by Ron himself.

Thus, her relationship with Ron gradually improved.

What Hermione did not notice was that while she was distracted, Ron was secretly watching her with a gaze that began to show unusual emotions.

Similarly, although she is very dissatisfied with the treatment of house-elves, she has not imposed her sense of justice onto others. She listened to Hagrid's advice and decided to treat them kindly within her ability, rather than disregarding the feelings of house-elves and forcing their liberation as in the original story.

She no longer had the idea of establishing a rights promotion association for house-elves. Instead, she devoted more energy to her studies.

To achieve real results, it ultimately relies on strength and influence! Occasionally, when she was lost in thought, she couldn't help but wonder if this was the responsibility that the boy in her heart had always shouldered, if this was the reason that drove him to pursue knowledge and fame every day, and if this was the biggest difference in stance between the boy and her...

It seems that I really have never understood you...

Back to Soren .

Soren is currently focusing on finding Merlin's secret chamber, as the poltergeist is an obvious clue.

Unlike the understanding of many students, the poltergeist is not a ghost, but a mischievous spirit.

The term poltergeist comes from German, literally meaning "noisy ghost." It is an invisible entity that can move objects, slam doors, create other sounds, and cause disturbances, and it can even take on a physical form strong enough that chewing gum can be stuffed into its nostrils.

Poltergeists have never been alive, which indicates that they belong to the category of "non-living" or "non-existent," just like Dementors and Boggarts. They have never died and cannot die because they have never lived.

Soren specifically went out for a night stroll during curfew, confident that Filch and his cat couldn't do anything to him.

As he expected, he was indeed spotted by the poltergeist.

Just as the poltergeist was about to shout and report Soren , he quickly waved his wand, and the poltergeist suddenly realized its mouth was sealed, its tongue tied, and it couldn't make a sound. The cunning and experienced spirit immediately recognized it had encountered a formidable opponent and turned to flee.

Soren aimed his wand at the direction of the poltergeist's escape and softly said, "Spirit Binding!"

The poltergeist suddenly found its body uncontrollable, as if being pulled towards Soren by a powerful force. It struggled desperately, but it was of no help in the current situation.

After forcibly capturing the poltergeist with the binding spell, Soren flipped his other hand and took out a specially made bottle container, forcefully stuffing the poltergeist inside with his wand.

At that moment, he also heard the hurried footsteps of Filch and his cat approaching. Unhurriedly, he cast an invisibility charm on himself and calmly walked past Filch and norris, returning safely to his dormitory.

Once back in his dormitory, Soren had just released the poltergeist when it immediately rushed towards the wall, hoping to escape before Soren could react. However, it found that at some point, its ghostly body had already been bound by a magical chain emitting a sinister red glow, preventing it from even moving a finger. The other end of the magical chain was connected to the tip of Soren 's wand.

The poltergeist, frustrated, exclaimed, "This time, the poltergeist has really lost, and I accept it! What do you want with me now?"

Soren replied slowly, "No rush, no rush. I want to inquire about someone. If you can give me a satisfactory answer, I won't only release you but also give you some prank supplies, how about that?" After saying this, Soren pointed to a box of dung eggs on his desk.

"Alright, alright! Deal! Who do you want to inquire about? The poltergeist knows no bounds in sharing knowledge!"

Soren smiled and slowly said, "Merlin!"
