The young man, however, was unhurried.
In the men's restroom, a few people looked at the young man with a cigarette dangling from his mouth, with the same expression, as if they thought he was crazy.

The young man seemed a bit crazy.
"What exactly do you want to say? Hurry up!"

Someone, not too dumb, guessed what the young man wanted to say.
And once that was said, everyone else was taken aback. They all looked at the young man in shock, thinking he was insane.
