Chapter 18 - Chapter 18

After outsmarting the animal control officers and beating Max, Randy instructed the dogs to hide upstairs, as the police were breaking down the doors. The dogs then ran upstairs, and one police officer kicked the door and tried to break it down. Once they got the door open, Randy blasted the police and the animal control officers with a fire extinguisher, blinding them. While they were blinded, Randy howled like a werewolf even though he was human at the time. Once the werewolves recovered from Hunter's attack, they saw that the dogs had helped them, so the werewolves decided to return the favor.

When they heard Randy howl, the werewolves arrived with Eliza and Ace, and they kept the police and animal control officers at bay. Rodney said, "Randy, go, we'll take care of things here." Randy nodded yes and hurried upstairs, where his cousins were waiting for him. Randy saw they had already caught his dog friends. Randy said, "Hey, those are my friends." Merna said, "How can a werewolf have a dog for a friend? You're a traitor to your kind. We'll make you pay for it."

Merna held a gun up to Randy and said, "One false move and I'll kill you. Unless you hand over our father's remote." Randall said, "And if that's not enough for you, I also have this." Randall showed Randy a dog whistle. Randy said, "A whistle?" Randall said, "A dog whistle. I blow it, and your friends will hear it. And I'll blow it until their ears come off." All three of them then heard a crashing sound and wondered what it was, so they hurried down the stairs and saw that the police had used explosives to blow the door open, which knocked the werewolves out cold. Randy said, "And that's where I draw the line. We'll continue this debate later. Right now, we've got to help our dads."

Randy then jumped, bounced off one of the police officers' faces, and tripped two more. He then spotted Abby from the dog pound, and Abby recognized him from the color of his hair. Abby said, "Escaping the pound with your father and friends was impressive, but now I have my animal control officers here. And as soon as the moonlight turns you back into a dog, they'll arrest you and your friends." Randy looked up and said, "Yeah, well, in case you haven't noticed, the moon is behind the clouds at the time, so I'm safe. Now bring it on." Abby and Randy then fought it out while Abby's animal control officers started to tranquilize the dogs and put them back in the dog catcher's car. Randy kicked Abby, and she got hit against the wall around the yard. Then Abby jumped back up on her feet with her hands. Then she kicked Randy away when she got back up.

Once Randy saw his dog friends being taken away, Randy got in their limo and told the driver to follow the animal control trucks. After he left, Abby got back on her motorcycle and drove after Randy. The animal control officers saw they were being chased by a limo. Then Randy opened the top of the limo, crawled out, and stood on top of the car while the driver drove. When they came to a stoplight, the light turned red, and all the vehicles came to a stop. Since they were stopped, Randy jumped off his limo and onto one of the animal control officers' cars. Randy then opened the door of the truck, which had Eliza and Ace inside, and they all escaped. Randy said, "Free the others." Abby said, "And I'll handle your friend." Randy looked at the top of his limo and saw Abby standing on it.

Randy and Abby began to fight while Eliza and Ace freed the other dogs and cats using their smarts and tricks. While Randy and Abby fought, it started to rain, but they were too preoccupied with each other to notice. When the light turned green again, the animal control officers drove away without the dogs or cats, and the dogs and cats ran away. Abby and Randy then fell back into Randy's limo. Randy said, "Follow the dogs." Randy then threw Abby out of the limo and sat down while the limo driver drove him after his dog friends. Since Randy wouldn't let her in his limo, Abby got back on her motorcycle and followed them.

Abby raced after Randy's limo while he raced after the dogs and cats. Abby then got a phone call from Max, and she answered it. Abby said, "Hello." Max said, "I just caught the television. And you let the animals escape?" Abby said, "Not to worry, you will have your fur coats and wigs. I'm tailing them as we speak." Max said, "Really? Where are you now?" Abby said, "Madison Ave. And they're turning right on Surly Street." While the werewolves were dealing with the humans, Max tried mapping out Abby's directions to figure out where the dogs and cats were leading them. Abby said, "Now they're making a left on Lovely Lane and another left on Crystal Rd." Max circled their destination and said, "Oh no, they're heading for the town's maze."

The dogs and cats ran into the town's maze, and Randy's limo driver stopped the limo. Randy got out of the car and saw the dogs and cats running into the maze. Randy got an idea and said, "I've got an idea." Randy called the house, and Mrs. Young answered. Randy said, "Mrs. Young, it's Randy. I need your help here. Get to the roof ASAP. And bring a set of binoculars." Mrs. Young did as Randy said and went to the roof with a pair of binoculars, bringing the phone with her. Mrs. Young said, "Ok, I've arrived at the roof." Randy said, "Ok, now use the binoculars to watch me enter the town's maze and get me through it."

Randy entered the maze and followed his friends through it while he was on the phone with Mrs. Young. Mrs. Young used her binoculars to spy on the labyrinth and saw Abby and the animal control officers enter as well. Mrs. Young said, "Randy, the animal control people have entered the maze. Now, freeze." Randy stopped and listened to Mrs. Young. Mrs. Young said, "The animal control people. They have you surrounded."

The animal control officers looked everywhere for Randy and the animals, but couldn't find them. They then split up and searched in different directions. Once they left, Randy turned around and showed himself to Mrs. Young from behind the scarecrow he had been hiding behind. Mrs. Young said, "Smooth move. Now, your friends are hiding on your left." Randy walked to the left and saw Eliza and Ace with the other dogs and cats. Randy said, "Guys, follow me and we'll get out of here safely." Randy got back on the phone with Mrs. Young and said, "Ok, we're back together." Mrs. Young looked through her binoculars and spotted Randy with the animals. Mrs. Young said, "Ok, one more left and another right and you're all home free."

The dogs and cats didn't understand what Mrs. Young was saying, so Randy translated for them and asked Mrs. Young if there were any animal control officers nearby. Mrs. Young spotted them with her binoculars and said, "They're approaching you from the right, so take a left." Randy did as Mrs. Young stated, and the dogs and cats followed him. Once the animal control officers arrived at the scene, they didn't see Randy or any of the dogs or cats. Then they all took another right turn, as Mrs. Young had said, and they made it out, making a run for it while the animal control people were still lost in the maze, where Randy and the animals had left them.

After leaving the maze, Randy checked on everyone with Mrs. Young. Randy said, "We lost Abby and the animal control officers. How's everyone there?" Mrs. Young went downstairs and checked on everyone. Mrs. Young said, "Hunter is still out cold from when Max hit him to the ground. Max is still stuck in werewolf form and can't resume his human form. Your cousins are still out cold from when the police, who are down for the count, blew up the front door. Finally, your family, the werewolves, are also still unconscious from the explosion."

After checking on everyone, Mrs. Young returned to the roof and used her binoculars to spot Randy and the animals. Randy and the animals hurried back to Randy's limo. Mrs. Young said, "Sweet." Mrs. Young then spotted Abby leaving the maze and tailing them. Mrs. Young said, "Wait, freeze." Randy and the animals then stopped, and Mrs. Young looked closer with her binoculars. Mrs. Young said, "Abby, the lady from the pound, she's leaving the maze and tailing you, run."

Randy and the animals made a run for it, and Abby saw them. Abby said, "I found them. They're out of the maze." The animal control officers followed Abby's voice to the end of the maze and joined her. Then they ran after Randy and the animals. Abby then called Max on her cell phone, and he answered. Max said, "Hello." Abby said, "Prison riot. Your nephew freed the hostages, and they thought they could lose us in the town's maze, but we all found the exit, and they're still trying to escape." Max said, "Well, see to it they are captured. We need them for our plan to work." Max then hung up.
