"Sam!" I whispered finally understanding where his pain was coming from. "Don't compound this… please."
Every breath I took was shallow, my chest tight.
"Did you know I had her first uhn?" he continued.
My mind stuttered, images flashing unbidden across my memory, and I felt a shiver crawl along my spine.
"It was you… that night." I breathed out.
My throat began to close up, my breathing forced. Panic clawed at me from the inside, leaving every nerve screaming. My pulse raced, legs trembling, and a sudden weakness spread through me.
"Do you know whose name she called even then? ---- Your fucking name!!!" he shouted.
I was outside of my body, watching through a haze of panic.
"Sam! She is having a panic attack! Let her go and we can forget this ever happened!"
