"Ah… I get it. Okay, no problems," Dr. Sanders said, her pen tapping lightly against the prescription pad as she wrote. "I will write you a prescription, and you can pick it up at the pharmacy downstairs. You take one each day." She tore the prescription from the pad and handed it across the desk.
Nita accepted it, sliding the note carefully into her bag. I noticed how her fingers lingered slightly on the paper.
We said our goodbyes, and Dr. Sanders gave me a knowing smile, a subtle twinkle in her eyes as if she'd seen countless couples navigate the same territory yet somehow felt the tension between us. I placed my hand gently on the small of Nita's back as we stepped out of the office, letting her feel my presence without words.
We picked up the prescription at the pharmacy downstairs. Nita tucked it into her bag again. I grinned, leaning close enough to whisper, "Guess we're all set then, huh?"
