[ "This is actually addictive, holy shit." ] Since he first experienced casting magic. Matthias who had dreamt of being a Wizard since young, hasn't stopped casting the same said spell for the nth time; even when his wrist reddened, aching for him to stop.
The excitement of realizing that he's a wizard, someone capable of bending light, simply outweighs the physical fatigue that his body is feeling. As he simply continued.
[ "Lumo-! Ahh, fuck...!" ] He felt his throat ache, stopping him from continuing the chant. He could hear the raspiness in his voice, but instead of stopping his casting escapades; he doubled down and continued.
[ "Lumos!" ] The light he cast this time was the biggest, enough to light up the whole room, for him to notice the disgustingness of the room that he is in. And lastly, it was enough for him to completely master the said spell.

He glanced beside him, reading the text while the bright light in front of him slowly started to dim; extinguishing, but having lasted the longest amongst the other times he cast. [ "I did it!" ] Repetition was really the key.
Coughing in his hand, he ignored the fact that his throat was killing him. Deeply focused on what he had just achieved, about to cast the same spell again.
[ "Lum- cough, cough!" ] He slipped, not finishing the rest of his sentence, which would have led to the said spell to not at all work, or show a tinge bit of reaction.
But wildly enough, unlike the previous cases where he didn't complete the chant, the spell still worked. The tip of his beloved wand lighting up, more so compared to the ordinary, but less so compared to the brightest. Nonetheless impressive in his eyes. [ "Uhh- my bloody throat." ]

Touching his throat, Matthias could feel it burn. How many times has he cast the Lumos Charm for his throat to feel like this? He actually doesn't know, but he knows enough to stop and continue for another time.
He glanced at his bed, at the opened book of charms, and prompted himself to read it instead of doing anything more wanky which includes his voice. Resting the latter for another session, later.
[ -----| SCENE BREAK |----- ]
The rainy city of Gotham finally experienced peace when the Sun finally shined down from above, dispersing the horrid clouds which terrorized the said city. The residents were finally able to breathe a sight of relief, at least enough to go outside and start their day.
The birds also, as they chirp all-around, which made a certain unkempt individual stare out of his apartment window in both annoyance and realization; this is Matthias, and he had little to no sleep since he started practicing the wonders of magic. [ "Worth... it." ]
Actually he did have rest, albeit less so and are abrupt compared to the time he practiced magic. His body which was tired shut down even though his spirit was still unwilling. And at the moment, he is waking up from such a state that his body had imposed on him.
Stretching his arms, he instinctively reached out for his wand which is still there besides the bed, alongside the half-heartedly opened book of charms and transfiguration. The latter he read only little about compared to the former which he had read 2/3rds of.
Who would have thought that the usually lazy Matthias would willingly spend his time, reading textbooks of all things. His old professors and teachers back at his alma mater would not have believed it; but hey, they didn't teach magic, so that's that.
[ "I wasn't... imagining it all." ] He mumbles, while clutching his head which was feeling migraine akin to that of a drunk; though he hadn't experienced being drunk once, he does have a tinge bit of memory of the original Matthias, so he can understand the feeling. [ "I'm actually a wizard." ]
He lifted his right hand, the one clutching his Wand, index out before then the tip of it shone with a white bright light; no incantation needed, but to have a much brighter effect, he would need to chant. [ "And a Player." ]
[ PLAYER HAS SUCCESSFULLY CASTED THE WAND-LIGHTING CHARM, PROFICIENCY INCREASE 0.05% ]
He ignored the latter part, before then resting his head back to the pillow; clutching the said pillow, wanting to go back to sleep. Though the birds, cars, people arguing and screaming outside had different plans. [ "I hate Gotham." ]
Groaning to the pillow, he tried to close his eyes even more. His body agrees, his spirit too. But no matter what he does, the outside, the bustling annoying city of Gotham isn't agreeing. Perhaps this is payback for him screaming in the middle of the night, for hours. Damn Gotham.
He was about to force himself to sleep, but his stomach grumbled, wanting something to eat after hours of activity. Matthias who's suffering glanced at his sunken stomach, and instantly relented. [ "Fine." ]
In the hours of reading the charms book, he learnt about 8 spells which it talks about. It did mention others, but more on teaser; the primarily 8 charms which was taught by Miranda Goshawk are:
Wand-Lighting Charm (Lumos), Softening Charm (Spongify), Severing Charm (Diffindo), Fire-Making Spell (Incendio), Unlocking Charm (Alohamora), Locking Spell (Colloportus), Mending Charm (Reparo), and finally the infamous Levitating Charm (Wingardium Leviosa).
The last one being the second spell he is most skilled in, to the point that he doesn't even need to chant the incantation, just the wand waving and intent is enough to make things fly. But he still did the chant to fully maximize the intended effects, [ "Wingardium Leviosa." ]

Matthias pointed his wand at the corner of the room, at the dirty grey sheet of covers that has all the trash of the room in it. Aside from the stains on the floors and the peeled wallpapers of course, those being things he can't fix as of yet, as he hasn't learnt the charm for those.
The Mending Charm could possibly work, but he hasn't started on learning that one. He did read about it, but his body shut down before he could test it out. So for the moment, he let it be, focusing on what he could clean.
He levitated the cover high enough for him to grab it with ease; with one hand. After doing so he then went out of his apartment, about to find a place to dumb all the trash.
Living on the third floor, he of course needs to first find the stairs which is easy. While walking down, he glanced about at his surroundings, seeing the rundown state of the doors and the walls. Feeling pity. [ "Poor as fuck city." ]
But he isn't rich like a certain orphan, so for the moment he couldn't do anything about the walls. Perhaps after he fully mastered charms, or the Mending Charm at the least, then could he fix the wallpapers peeling off the walls.
Brushing pass a few people along the way, Matthias who looks akin to that to a skeleton— or a common mob in the eyes of many, quickly blended right in with the other residents of the Gotham.
Almost all looking bleek, soulless, like a Demenor sucked the only joy and happy memories they have in life. Only moving along because they need to, not caring about one another; merely giving weird glances to Matthias who's carrying trash and a weird stick. [ "Oh..." ]
Glancing at his right hand, he noticed the anomaly— his wand, which to them is merely just a stick. He wanted to hide it previously, but his jeans don't give enough space for that, unless he wants to destroy it.
So he quietly lowered it instead, not wanting to accidentally destroy it in an attempt to look normal to the other Gothamites. Primarily because a newbie wizard like him needs a wand, as conduit for magic. [ "Weird ass people." ]
Ignoring the stares, he approached the largest pile of trash he could find in the alleyway and threw his trash there. The clanking of bottles we're immensely satisfying in his ears, as it means he is finally rid of those; especially because he knows who drank it, and what it did to the said drinker.
Then he roamed the streets to find the nearest store or stand he could find, to buy food for himself. A hotdog would do great, but he couldn't find any. But after some time of walking, he was finally able to spot a store— a bodega, a small one. Which he entered.
But before he could fully enter the door, or hear the chimes of the bell in front of the door. He was stopped when he heard someone screaming inside, [ "Arms in the fuckin' air!" ]

[ FUN FACT: Charms in the wizarding world are also called Enchantments. Charms in general are spells that add certain properties to an object or individual; For example, Featherweight Charm on making things light, and Wand-Lighting Charm for making light appear on the tip of the wizard's or witches' wand. Charms which we're designd to be malicious or otherwise fueled by the dark side were called Dark Charms. And lastly objects which have a lasting charm placed on them are called Bewitched. ]
