Chapter 24 - Clarissa × Brandon

Brandon

I could tell by what she said that I hurt her feelings.

"Go f*ck yourself."

Did I say too much.

You think so?

Never have I ever felt guilt when I tortured or hurt someone's feelings but here I was and it was bothering me.

Within a second, I had psyched my mind to go apologise.

I slowly walked upstairs because of my wound.

I opened the door to her room but she wasn't there.

Check your room dummy.

She wouldn't think of going into my room after what I had said.

But I still did.

Opening the door to my room, I sighed. Clarissa was standing in front of the floor length window with Jenna over her shoulder, humming.

"Rissa?"

She turned.

Her eyes were puffy and red.

She placed Jenna in her cradle gently.

"Can we talk?"

"Mhm."

She walked past me and went to sit in the bed.

"Rissa, I'm sorry for hurting your feelings, I...."

"It's not my fault my parents are dead, they were assassinated *sniff*"

I noticed the tears roll down my cheeks.

Assassinated?

How?

"How'd that happen?"

"I was six years old *sniff*, we were at home and all of a sudden, certain people in masks broke into the house and they hid me *sniff* all I - I remember is that they were shot."

She had hidden her face in my neck and hugged me.

I didn't know what to do.

Hug her back dummy.

I used both arms around her and she leaned in more. I rubbed her back gently.

"I'm so sorry that had to happen."

She only sniffed.

"Would you recognise them if you ever saw them?"

"They had stars on their shoulders..."

That would be only one particular group.

After a while, I noticed she had fallen asleep on my shoulder.

Clarissa

I woke up in the middle of the night to hear Jenna crying. I rushed out of the bed to pick her up from the cradle.

Brandon was sleeping in the couch?

"It's okay Jenna."

I patted her back slowly.

Brandon

I sat up in the couch.

Oh baby Jenna, what was wrong with her now?

I opened my eyes to see Clarissa walking around the room with Jenna. I got out of the bed and walked towards them.

"What's wrong with her?"

"I don't know, she just won't stop crying."

"Hand her over to me."

Clarissa gently gave her to me.

"It's alright mg love, calm down."

"Get the vacuum cleaner."

Clarissa just looked at me confused but then went anyways. Jenna's wails came down a bit.

She entered the room again with the vacuum in hand.

"Turn it on." I mouthed.

Clarissa

Just the way Brandon held Jenna over his shoulder melted my heart. It was just too cute.

Surprisingly, Jenna piped down once I turned the vacuum cleaner on.

"How'd you do that?" I asked.

"It's quiet noise." He said simply.

"You seem to have a way with kids."

Brandon smiled.

"I have a soft spot for them."

He said placing Jenna back into her cradle.

"I bet your kids are going to be great."

"Maybe we can have some together someday."

I lightly coughed and Brandon chuckled.

Again, what happened to rule number five?

I watched as he kissed her forehead.

Why are guys so complicated?

I mean, first you give a rule and now you're saying otherwise?

So you don't want the rule?

No...maybe?

So you actually think you and Brandon have a chance to...

Eww, no.

Not in a million years.

We'll see about that.
