Chapter 473 - 473: Professor, who did you kill?

Orlant scratched the back of his head and nodded in sudden realisation.

"You finally came to your senses," Kasenhis said with a sigh of relief.

Orlant shook his head. "No... I just suddenly realised there's one more person I need to kill."

"You want to kill Voldemort?" Kasenhis slumped into his chair helplessly, staring at the young wizard in front of him, who was both wildly excited and extremely aggressive.

He had no idea how he was supposed to persuade Orlant to let go of his obsession with killing Green.

Nor did he know how to make the boy properly reassess his own level of strength.

Having the determination was obviously a good thing, but if he actually got carried away one day and sent a curse straight at Voldemort...

Wouldn't that be voluntarily crossing his entire family off the household register?

How many pages did they even have? Could they afford to burn through them like that?

"Well then, Professor, I'll just... leave?" Orlant said quietly.

The instant Kasenhis heard that, he shook his head like an electric drill.

At this point, he had absolutely no doubt that if Orlant left his sight for even one second, Maple would be found dead at home the next.

Young wizards these days all had terrifying tricks up their sleeves.

And none of them were ordinary.

"How about this? We erase Maple's memories about the Love Potion incident between the two of you. What do you think?" Kasenhis asked.

"Ask Professor Dumbledore? I remember he has a Pensieve, right?" Orlant said.

Kasenhis shook his head. "Dumbledore has no sense of restraint. He might secretly look at them himself. We'll go to St Mungo's and find Lockhart. He's one of the foremost memory experts in the world today."

With that, Kasenhis stood up.

"Of course, before that, we need to go pick up Maple as well. How does that plan sound?"

Orlant awkwardly got to his feet.

"Fine."

Before long, the two of them appeared in the back garden of Green Castle.

Maple was sitting on the grass, ordering her younger brother to cosplay as a house-elf and massage her legs when she heard the sudden roar and instinctively looked up.

Professor Kasenhis?

Hmm...

No idea what he wanted.

Then her gaze shifted slightly to the side.

Orlant?

Holy shit.

I'm dead!

Yet the next thing that happened was not Orlant pulling out his wand and sending Tom's wonderful green light straight at her.

Instead, Kasenhis cupped his hands around his mouth and started loudly calling for her parents.

It gave off a strange feeling...

Almost like he had come to ask for her hand in marriage?

Maple stared blankly as Kasenhis spoke in hushed whispers with her parents, who had hurried outside.

In the end, still completely confused, she somehow ended up following Professor Kasenhis and Orlant to St Mungo's.

Wait.

Why was Orlant looking at her so strangely?

It wasn't as though she had done anything to wrong him.

How rude.

And just like that, Maple returned home in a daze and continued enjoying her holiday, while Kasenhis and Orlant returned to Hogwarts.

"Well? Satisfied now?" Kasenhis said with a sigh of relief.

"There's still Voldemort," Orlant said stubbornly.

The kid was so single-minded about this that Kasenhis could almost feel the faint aura of death coming off him.

If he'd known this would happen, he should have just taken Maple to St Mungo's without telling Orlant the truth.

"Killing Voldemort is something for the adults to worry about. For a fifth-year like you, isn't that still a bit too far away?" Kasenhis sighed as he tried to persuade him.

"Hmm..." Orlant leaned back against the sofa in silence. "I still think I should test that spell of mine."

"If you do that, Voldemort will notice. You're safe at Hogwarts, but your family isn't," Kasenhis said.

"Then you test it for me, Professor. Haven't you already kicked Voldemort to death like some stray dog on the roadside several times before...? Professor Dumbledore told me about it," Orlant said excitedly.

"Dumbledore really tells you lot everything."

Kasenhis sighed and picked up the notebook again.

"What's the principle behind this spell?"

Orlant stood up on his own, dragged over a movable blackboard from nearby, picked up a piece of chalk, and started explaining.

This was when Orlant's heaven-defying teaching talent truly began to show itself.

The knowledge somehow drilled into Kasenhis's brain in an extremely bizarre way.

Even when Kasenhis eventually couldn't hold out anymore and his consciousness grew hazy, leaving him on the verge of falling asleep, the knowledge still braved all obstacles and forced its way into his head.

The sound of chalk tapping against the blackboard eventually dragged Kasenhis out of dreamland.

He immediately gave Orlant a thumbs-up.

"Born with the body of a professor... seriously, you're this!"

Orlant flipped the blackboard over again.

"Then, Professor, can you demonstrate it for me?"

Kasenhis waved a hand and moved the blackboard back to the side.

"If I'm demonstrating it, I'll just do it directly. No need for the blackboard."

With that, he took out his Ars Nouveau spellbook again.

Kasenhis had known about the concept of compound magic for a long time, but he really had never played around with it as wildly as Orlant had.

Blowing someone's head off from thousands of miles away?

Once again, Hogwarts really was blessed with talent.

Every young wizard was more ferocious than the last.

As for the basic principle, it relied on a simple tracking spell.

Ancient wizards had originally extracted and learned this spell from the bloodlines of pigeons and owls. As long as you had a subjective name, the spell could travel thousands of miles to locate the owner of that name.

Unfortunately, that method was useless against Voldemort.

Voldemort had long since placed concealment magic over his own name, and the spell wasn't particularly difficult either. Any half-decent Dark wizard knew how to use it.

So, to Kasenhis, that part could basically be described as...

Useless nonsense.

Orlant was still young and inexperienced, after all.

No harm done.

Once the tracking spell was removed, however, the rest of the compound magic was still ridiculously powerful.

Kasenhis used the Ars Nouveau spellbook as the casting medium, Thaumic essentia as the source of magical energy, and enchanted runes as a targeting and locking array.

He successfully blew a gigantic mushroom cloud into existence deep inside the Forbidden Forest.

Then he immediately used the Fluxwatch to restore everything.

Mm...

That was exactly what the Fluxwatch was for.

"Professor... who did you kill?" Orlant asked suspiciously.

Kasenhis didn't answer.

After all, he couldn't exactly admit that he had modified Orlant's ultra-long-range single-target assassination spell into a short-range, large-scale AOE attack.
