Chapter 468 - 468: Trying My Hand At Potions

Slughorn had no appetite no matter how much he tried to eat.

Just then, he heard a bubbling sound.

He instinctively looked toward it and saw Kasenhis take out a strange object that looked like an oversized test-tube rack. In the middle sat a small golden rod radiating intense heat.

Next, Kasenhis placed three water bottles onto the three holders surrounding the little rod, connected them with tubes, then tossed a lump of red material into a small pot above the rod.

"What is that?" Slughorn asked instinctively.

"Obviously, it should be some kind of potion-brewing method," Snape replied.

As he spoke, Kasenhis had already finished the first step. He then dropped a sticky fermented spider eye into the small pot at the top, and the brewing stand started bubbling again.

"I don't think I've ever seen Kasenhis use something like this before," Dumbledore said as he came over as well, clearly intending to exchange a few words with the two potion experts.

"Indeed. After all, this purification-and-mixing method was already swept into the rubbish heap of history by potion masters four hundred years ago. And judging by the design of Professor Kasenhis's brewing stand, it's clearly based on that method."

Slughorn explained it to Dumbledore, who was proficient in Potions, but not quite as proficient as the two of them.

"I see." Dumbledore nodded. "Then what exactly is Kasenhis making?"

Kasenhis felt slightly awkward.

After all, both potion experts had already said that his brewing method was pretty terrible. If he kept showing off in front of them, wouldn't he just be embarrassing himself?

So he simply started making things up.

"I'm squeezing juice."

"Uh..." Dumbledore stared speechlessly as Kasenhis added a fermented spider eye into his so-called juice.

"Forget it, Albus. Let the boy play if he wants. You should know that antiques like this are already quite rare in all of England."

Now that Slughorn had returned to his area of expertise, he immediately regained his confidence.

A moment ago, losing influence in the political sphere had left him looking thoroughly dejected, but now that he was back in the world of Potions, he started commenting again.

Just then, a ringing sound came from the brewing stand.

Slughorn instinctively looked over.

The three bottles hanging from the stand had now turned dark green.

"Hm? That's not right. The reason purification methods were thrown into the rubbish heap was because they fundamentally couldn't make potion ingredients react with one another. So even if you purified a fermented spider eye, the result should still be pale red or a light yellowish pus colour. How did it become dark green?"

Slughorn frowned in confusion.

After saying that, he looked at Snape.

"Severus, do you think this possibility exists?"

"What possibility?" Snape raised an eyebrow.

"Is it possible that Professor Kasenhis got upset because I just said his potion-brewing method was rubbish, so he secretly added colouring to it?" Slughorn asked in a low voice.

"Try it later and you'll know. It won't kill you anyway," Snape replied concisely.

"That works too." Slughorn raised an eyebrow and accepted the challenge.

As the current second-best potion master in England, he still had that much confidence.

Meanwhile, Kasenhis activated the power of his own imagination.

Minecraft didn't have a knockout potion.

But if he wanted to make one now, what should he do?

Kasenhis's brain, powered by pure imagination, quickly came up with an answer.

A Potion of Weakness plus a Potion of Slowness.

That was basically the same thing as a knockout potion, right?

He then added a large pile of ingredients for a Potion of Slowness into the small pot above the blaze rod.

After another round of bubbling, the three potion bottles eventually turned pitch black, like ink.

"Finished? If you're done, bring it over. Let a Potion Master help you taste-test exactly what this special juice of yours is supposed to do!" Slughorn said generously.

"Wait a second. There's still one last step."

As Kasenhis spoke, he added fire into the small pot above the blaze rod.

As the gunpowder slowly disappeared, the potion itself didn't seem to change much, but the potion bottles took on a different form.

For example, the openings of the bottles were gone.

Simply put, there was no way to drink them.

Kasenhis looked at the enthusiastic Slughorn and still handed one of the potions over. He also wanted to know exactly how effective this potion was, whether it worked at all, and if it did, just how well it worked.

Slughorn stared at the potion bottle in his hand, which looked like some kind of bizarre water balloon, still rather confused.

Seeing this, Kasenhis explained, "You have to smash it and let the liquid inside touch you."

Slughorn nodded. "So that's how it works."

With that, he found a deep cup, placed the potion inside, smashed the bottle, then reached in and dipped a finger into the liquid.

Thud!

The entire Great Hall was startled by the sight.

Dumbledore immediately pulled out his wand and examined Slughorn.

Only after quite some time did he finally breathe a sigh of relief.

"He's only unconscious."

Kasenhis nodded. "Then the effect is correct."

With that, he immediately teleported away with an Ender Blink.

"...Where did he go?" Professor McGonagall asked in confusion.

"You know him well enough. He's gone to save a young wizard from dire straits," Snape replied as he pulled out one of the bottles of milk Kasenhis had previously given him and poured it down Slughorn's throat.

After waking up, Slughorn's face alternated between red and pale. In short, he couldn't hide his embarrassment.

But his expression was also extremely excited.

"Severus! This is an entirely new method of brewing potions! In less than a minute, it can produce a Draught of Living Death that takes effect merely through physical contact!"

"Professor Kasenhis had a technique like this, and you never told me!" Slughorn exclaimed, both excited and visibly distressed.

Snape looked somewhat awkward.

Kasenhis actually hadn't hidden it from him at all. In fact, when Kasenhis had first arrived at Hogwarts, he had already shown Snape this kind of brewing stand.

What had he said back then?

"Don't waste your time on Potions..."

Snape thought gloomily that he really wanted to travel back in time and slap himself across the face.

...

Meanwhile...

The Demon King of Alchemy, Professor Kasenhis, descended upon his loyal Azkaban that very night!
