The food they had was simple, but good to eat, well, as good it was for people of the time as they ate the same food. When she had walked into the restaurant, her missing limb did catch the attention, alongside her attire and the boy in front of her.
He allowed her to sit with him and eat food with him, and she would be lying if she said that she didn't like the food that she got, especially after the time she had spent as a slave so it was a godsend for her.
That still didn't mean that she was going to trust her slaver though, she had suspicions that this was a ploy by him to make her loyal to him, and unfortunately for him, she had seen such tactics being used before during her time as a knight, and she won't fall for it.
'Lord of Honour. Continue to grant me the strength to persevere.' Fanah thought to herself as she prayed to her God.
The God of Honour, is one of the few Gods that aren't widely worshipped by the people of the empire, as the other major Gods are in turn worshipped over them. The God she followed was the God of Knights, Honour, Chivalry, Virtue, and the patron of all knights.
Their gender is unknown and so they are called as them or they by their worshippers. But due to the nature of their being, they are only worshipped by a few, as many of the knights give more importance to other Gods than this one.
Khaheli, that was the name of the God, and they were mostly worshipped by the knights and that too rarely as the more major Gods of the elements were worshipped by the people. The war with the demons 2000 years ago had also caused a decline in their worship, as the chosen of the Gods were the heroes who drove back the demons and established the great hero clans.
She was aware that she was one of the few in the human empire who worshipped them, and she will still do so for long. And so, as she walked out of the restaurant she kept her eyes on her master's head as she looked at her swords on either side of her hips, as she found it to be a bit more convenient as she can take out her weapons from either side, in normal or reverse grip if she needed it.
"You won't make any problems by trying to fight others, will you?" Armaros asked her as he walked towards the adventurers guild.
"No, I won't." Fanah said to him with a shake of her head.
'I am not so barbaric that I would attack adventurers.' Fanah thought to herself as she walked behind him as she saw the guild building.
Armaros entered first as Fanah followed after him as they got the attention of the people inside, many of the adventurers, especially the men looking at mana and whistling and catcalling her when they saw her. They obviously took notice of her missing arm, but even then she is a very beautiful woman.
Her long hair has been tied into a bun behind her head, and even though she had a scar over her right eye, it didn't diminish her beauty in the slightest, this of course also caused him to get their attention as well.
But the two of them ignored it, with Fanah have a stony face as she didn't care about the men in the guild. The two reached the desk where the receptionist were, with the number of women being five instead of the three at the town of Xerxia.
"Welcome, how may I help you?" The girl in the middle said with a smile.
"We want to become adventurers." Armaros said getting to the point.
"Oh? Well, then please fill these forms before we can check your mana." The girl said with a smile.
"Okay." Armaros said as he took the forms and gave one to Fanah.
The two filled them and he checked Fanah's own before he gave it to the girl, who them brought them to a room where they had their mana checked, after that was done, well they were looking at the girl who is looking at the man stationed in the room with a smile on her face.
"They both have high levels of mana, this is great." The girl said to him with a smile on her face.
"Yes. These two can start as C rank with their reserves." The man said with a nod and smile.
Armaros had an inkling that Fanah's mana levels were high, especially since she was a very powerful knight before her enslavement, but he is happy to know that now. And he is also quite happy to know that his own had truly increased and it wasn't just his imagination, as a part of him still thought that he was imagining it.
"So, there isn't any problems with us becoming adventurers?" Armaros asked as he wanted to be sure.
"Oh no. We're very happy to make you adventurers, it will just take a few minutes." The girl said as he nodded and the two left the room.
They waited in front of the desk before the girl appeared with their adventurer cards and also gave them an adventurers book, though she gave both books to Fanah.
"You two will start as C rank adventurers. Please make sure to document your quests, and then have them verified after it has been completed. This is a good record to have." The girl said with a smile.
"Understood." Fanah said as she took the books.
"Alright, well check the quests." Armaros said as the receptionist smiled and nodded.
Armaros went to the quests and took a C rank quest, which was for killing some monsters a bit away from the town. He showed it to Fanah as the woman nodded after checking it, and so the two left the guild to complete the quest.
"You know, I thought you would be more angry due to how the men were acting." Armaros said as he looked at her.
"I didn't become a knight without having any sort of discipline, besides, I'm your slave, I don't want to make any problems for you." Fanah said to him as he nodded.
"I'm glad to hear that. We have to take care of five demonic beasts. Can you fight non human beings with only one arm, after all, you can't fight against them like you do a human." Armaros said as they walked.
"I can." Fanah said with confidence as he hummed.
'Alright, that is what I needed to hear.' Armaros thought to himself as he smiled.
The two left the town and towards the area where the demonic beasts were supposed to be and found five demonic wolves as he looked at Fanah.
"Go and hunt them, I want to see how you fight. I'll also follow you." Armaros said to her as she glanced at him for a second.
"As you wish, master Agares." Fanah said as she drew her left blade and charged at the enemies.
The wolves had noticed her presence and got up and roared at her as Fanah used her mana to dash towards the monsters. Despite only having one arm she was able to charge towards the wolves as one howled and bared it's fangs at her, ready to tear her apart.
But Fanah didn't give it the chance as she sidestepped the bite and lopped it's head off before dashing towards the other ones. The four wolves charged together when they saw their own be killed as they became angry and attacked.
But she showed the monsters the experience and power she has obtained as she kicked the first one on its chin and sent it up, spun her body and dodged two of them before plunging the sword into the fourth one.
She ripped her sword out, splitting its head into two as it sang and stabbed it through the head of the demonic wolf she had kicked into the air before she freed her blade. Then dashed to the third wolf as it turned and tried to bite her leg.
But she saw it coming as she instead raised her head and slammed it on top of its head and buried it's head into the ground, crushing it's skull and ground underneath it. The last wolf lunged as it saw an opening and opened its maw to kill the woman.
It clamped it's jaw onto forearm and her entire fist was in its mouth, but Fanah just looked at the demonic beast as it's eyes lost its light and fell limp. As while it did in fact manage to bite her, she had positioned her sword in a reverse grip, causing the wolf to impale itself on her sword due to its momentum as the blade had emerged through the back of its head.
And all of this had happened in less than a minute, the beast and Fanah being fast enough to move quickly, and the woman who was strong enough to take care of the monsters easily.
"This is supposed to be C rank huh. I would've thought it would've been more difficult." Fanah said as she freed her hand and blade.
"This is what normal adventurers face, they're obviously not going to be much for a former knight of your calibre." Armaros said to his slave.
"You didn't come to my aid, Master." Fanah said as she looked at the boy.
"Well, when I saw how quickly you took care of the first one, I realised that it would be easy for you to dispose of them. I guess I made a mistake in only taking one commission. Should've taken a lot more." Armaros said as he sighed to himself as he pulled out a knife to take the evidence.
"If I may ask, why did you want to become an adventurer ?" Fanah asked him as she watched her master cut the beasts and get the evidence.
"Money." Armaros said as he went silent after that.
Fanah frowned when she heard his reason for becoming an adventurer, recalling many people who gave importance to wealth, whether they be noble, commoners, or adventurers. The nobles were one of the reasons as to why she had been reduced to such a state. After all, it was those bastards greed that caused them to accuse her of deeds she hadn't done.
But she didn't voice her thoughts out, knowing that it won't do much help as she is now a slave of the boy in front of her and the only thing she can do right now is listen to him. No matter how much it grates on her mind to know that she will be serving a guy like the ones who had caused her grief.
Armaros himself was aware of the stare of his slave, and considering what her history is, he is fairly certain that she has low opinions on him due to that. But that was fine with him, he was not going to explain things to her anyway.
Being known amongst adventurers as a good person is not something that he wants to have, as in his eyes, having the reputation of someone who wants to make money is much better. Others, especially the corrupt will not think of him as a threat as they will only see him as a mercenary and adventurer who loves to make money.
He would rather be seen as a money loving guy and a mercenary by the noble and corrupt, than be seen warily and as a threat by them, not to mention the fact that his reputation will also be built up around it, therefore it might also give him some protection as well. An effective camouflage to protect himself and have people assume him to be someone he is not, which is what he will strive to get for his plan to work.
'I will get stronger, get more money, and more things, before I find that bastard and teach him a lesson.' Armaros thought to himself as he looked at the bodies of the wolves in contemplation.
