After the demons had been fully repelled, they all gathered near the entrance of the village as those who had evacuated had also returned after they realised that the danger had passed. But even though the demons had been driven back, it didn't mean that they were alright
They had lost many of their people and a lot of cattle and their crops, alongside their homes, and their village is in shambles due to the attack. The knights of the Dawnbringer family had made a perimeter around the village to keep watch as the remaining villagers were huddle together.
Though the villagers were also happy when they learned that the descendants of the hero who saved their ancestors had come to their aid, which they were really thankful for. The chief was talking with the captain of the knights as they were getting information about the attack.
As for Armaros, after the attack was done, he was taken by Aurelia and brought to her as he was cleaned and his body was healed as he sat there.
"Was there a need for you to do that, mom?" Armaros asked as he looked at her.
"Do what?" Aurelia asked as she stood beside him as she looked at him with her usual cold eyes.
"Use magic to clean the blood? That was something that I could've done on my own." Armaros said as he looked at her.
"There was no need to let the blood stay on you, especially since it was spilled from the body of demons." Aurelia said to him as he silently watched her before he looked at the villagers.
She saw that he was searching for something or someone amongst the crowd, but she didn't comment on it. She also noticed that her daughters were silent as they watched him as she healed the rest of his body.
"Done, I've healed every damage done to your body." Aurelia said to him as she looked at him.
"Great. By the way, is this sword really from our ancestor?" Armaros asked her as he gestured to the sword he had taken from the chief.
"Yes. While the holy energy in it isn't much, I can feel the connection it has to us, it gives me the same feeling as the ancestral sword and lance. So I believe that it is a sword used by Lucius." Aurelia said to him with a nod as she looked at him.
"I see." Armaros said before he saw the girl that he had saved in the village amongst the crowd.
He stood up and made his way to the villagers as Aurelia and her daughters were surprised by his actions as they watched him go to the crowd. As he neared the villagers, he saw that many were hugging each other, but were also looking at the knights of his family with hope and awe.
But he then saw the girl he had saved look at his direction as her eyes widened as she ran towards him as he jogged a bit. He didn't see her mother with him as he neared her as she hugged him as he bent down to gently hug her back.
"Hey, you're okay." Armaros said with a smile as he held her, happy that the girl had survived.
"Thank you, thank you for saving me." The girl said as she hugged him tightly.
"Where's your mother?" Armaros asked her as he hoped that he was wrong.
"Mommy isn't here. I can't find daddy as well." The girl said as she hugged him tightly as he felt her tremble in his arms.
"Oh." Armaros simply made a noise as he wrapped his arms around her to help her calm down.
He didn't say anything as he knew that the girl has lost both of her parents, even if he might not like his clan, he is sure that the knights here were more than capable enough to find out the remaining people in the village and they wouldn't have missed out anyone.
He gently pat her as he hugged her as he wanted to at least comfort this girl before she learned about the fate of her parents. And since he can't do anything to bring her back, the only thing he can do is give her some comfort.
At this time, his family was watching this as well as Aurelia and his sisters were surprised at what he was doing. Valeria, Solana and Fleur had uncomfortable faces when they saw that while Claudia and Arianne had frowns on their faces. Aurelia's eyes were when she saw that as her son had only ever hugged her, his sisters and his nanny.
The sight of him gently hugging someone other than themselves was quite jarring for the six of them. And they felt quite uncomfortable at the sight, but they didn't voice it out.
As for Armaros, after he had calmed the girl down, he brought her to the villagers before he went and brought the dead body of her father and laid it on the ground beside them as the girl ran to her father's body and shook him, asking him to wake up.
"Daddy isn't waking up. Why isn't he waking up?" The girl asked him as she has tears in her eyes.
"I'm sorry to say but, he is dead." Armaros said to her even though he felt uncomfortable saying that to her, especially to a child of her age.
"Wh-What? N-No! Daddy said that we will see mommy again! Where is mommy!? A-Aunty! Where is mommy!?" The girl shouted as she started to panic as she looked around as his eyes widened.
'Is she getting a panic attack?' Armaros thought to himself in surprise as she was getting more distressed.
"Hey hey hey! It's okay it's okay!" Armaros hastily said as he hugged her and turned her and buried her face in his chest as she trembled in his arms as he made sure to keep her secure.
The girl cried aloud as he tried his best to calm her down, but he wasn't successful as the girl is feeling great grief as the villagers looked at her in pity as they understood that she has been orphaned now.
But of course, the knights weren't that sympathetic, especially the one near him as they were getting irritated by the noise made by the child.
"Hey shut it. We are trying to keep watch here, don't make such disturbances!" The knight shouted as he walked towards them.
"Hiek! Uwaaaaaaaa!" The girl instead cried louder as she became more scared as tears streamed down her face as Armaros was panicked at seeing that.
"What is that girl doing? She's just making it more troublesome for big brother?" Solana asked as she frowned at the sight.
"Yeah. She shouldn't be crying like this, should she?" Valeria said as she looked at the sight with a frown.
"She has managed to survive the danger, but she shouldn't create problems for us by crying like this, at least she should do it silently to not create problems." Claudia said as she frowned at the sight.
"She isn't a Dawnbringer, so I believe it's normal for a child of her age." Aurelia said as she had seen such sights when she had gone to battle and saw the aftermath of it.
Her daughters looked at her when she said that but didn't say anything back as they looked back at their brother and the scene.
The sight of children crying about the loss of their parents was something that was common, especially in wars, which is why she wasn't that bothered by it. Though she did notice how one of her knights was going towards her son, she just hoped that he doesn't do anything bad to her son.
"Hey brat! Don't make it more troublesome for the clan!" The knight said angrily as he went to grab the girl.
Even if she is in the hands of Armaros, he was never really respected by his clan and their servants, which included the knights as well. So to the knight, he wasn't much of a deal and so he intended to brazenly grab the child out of his arms.
Aurelia of course understood what was about to happen as her eyes glowed with mana alongside her daughters which was noticed by the knights with them as they started to sweat.
But before the girls were able to do anything, the knights head was grabbed by Armaros and he was swiftly slammed into the ground headfirst as it cracked and blood splattered out of the spaces in the helmet.
"She is just a child who lost her parents! Let her grieve you bastard!" Armaros shouted in anger as he held the girl close to his chest.
The villagers cried out in shock when they saw that while the knights and his family were surprised when they saw such a display. He had never acted this angry before and the expression on his face was of great wrath.
"If you're not going to comfort her then shut your fucking mouth and stay silent!" Armaros said as he lifted him up and threw him.
The knight slammed into the wall as it also cracked before he fell down, unmoving as the people looked at it shocked. Aurelia, Claudia and the rest of his siblings were looking at him in shock as they had never seen him act like this, even when he was ignored by their servants and themselves.
They also felt an odd feeling in their chests when they saw him getting angry for the child, but none of them knew what this feeling was as they could only look at him with faces of surprise.
'He has really changed.' Aurelia thought to herself as she looked at her son.
