The atmosphere in the room grew subtly tense.
Gwen's eyes swept over the few people inside before settling on Oren. Noticing the little guy's own gaze shifting around, she winked at him playfully.
This child really was her brother's son. Didn't that make her his aunt?
Gwen silently calculated in her mind.
Oren gave a faint hum, then couldn't resist sticking his tongue out at Gwen.
Her lips curled into a grin, and she turned to Mike. "Dad, what do we do next?"
"Of course…"
Mike's brows furrowed. "Someone's coming—it's the police."
It must have been the noise from smashing through the wall earlier that drew their attention.
"Let's get out of here first."
Not wanting to attract more notice, Mike spoke calmly, opened a portal, and looked to Fiora. "Come with us."
Fiora gave a cold snort but still reluctantly carried Oren and followed.
After the three stepped through, Gwen was the last to pass the portal.
The shimmering gateway closed, and the four of them appeared in Miami.
"Amazing!"
Oren's big eyes sparkled with wonder. To walk through a single door and end up in an entirely different place—he couldn't help thinking how great it would be if he had such a power.
"Come on. Let's find somewhere we can talk properly."
Mike said, glancing briefly at Fiora.
Her heart skipped a beat, but she followed quietly.
The four arrived at a restaurant. After ordering food for Oren, the boy obediently ate without making a fuss, while silently observing the three adults around him.
"You really don't know where Clark is?"
Though she already knew the answer, Gwen still asked.
Fiora coldly shook her head.
"Mom."
Oren couldn't hold back. "Is he really my dad?"
Fiora opened her mouth, instinctively wanting to deny it. But when she saw Oren's pleading eyes, her heart softened. She nodded.
Instantly, Oren's face lit up with a radiant smile, and he cheered, "That's great! I have a dad too!"
Those words stabbed straight into Fiora's heart.
Since giving birth to this child, she often felt she was no longer the same person.
The once cold, merciless Kryptonian commander had become a mother whose heart was filled with her son, a heart that now had a vulnerable softness.
She lowered her head and kissed Oren's forehead, then looked to Mike. "What exactly do you want from me?"
Mike thought for a moment before replying, "Originally, I planned to capture Iron Lady, use my psychic abilities to control her, and make her help us."
Fiora's eyelids twitched.
"Heh."
Mike glanced at Oren. "But now, I've changed my mind."
After a pause, he continued, "You should be aware of the shady dealings that Star Company has been running, right?"
Fiora nodded.
Mike had already scanned her mind; there was no need to deny it. Besides, she had no reason to cover for Star.
"Gwen wants you to make those crimes public."
Gwen produced a flash drive. "This is the evidence we collected."
Fiora gave it a look, then tucked it away. "Do you really think this alone can bring Star Company down?"
Her eyes filled with mockery as she stared at the two.
"Doing this will put both me and Oren in danger."
"If you don't have a solid plan, I won't risk something like this."
Danger?
Even a Kryptonian could feel danger?
Mike's eyes narrowed.
"This is only our first step, but it's also the most critical."
Gwen said gravely, "Only by shattering people's trust in Star, exposing the false masks of those so-called superheroes, can Star Company ever be defeated."
"Nice idea." Fiora sneered. "But do you know that most of the superheroes inside Star are their own people? They're nothing but emotionless cloned tools."
"I know."
Gwen nodded firmly. "My dad will handle them."
"Then what's your next step?"
"To gather the true superheroes and destroy Star completely!"
Fiora looked at Gwen calmly. "You must understand what you're up against."
"You have no idea how strong Star truly is! And besides—how many real superheroes are left now? Even if a few exist, could they possibly take down Star's countless clones? Star has spent years infiltrating every aspect of this world. Wiping them out is far from easy!"
Gwen's face darkened.
Fiora sneered. "You're too naïve. Your plan is far too simple."
At that moment, Mike said faintly, "Then let's make it simple."
With that, he laid out his plan.
A few minutes later, Fiora reluctantly glanced at her son, then stepped into a secluded corner. Her body shifted back into Iron Lady, and she quickly departed.
Inside the restaurant, Oren watched his mother leave with reluctant eyes, then turned to Gwen and Mike with a bright smile.
"My name's Oren!"
Mike and Gwen exchanged a look, each pinching one of Oren's cheeks.
"Call me Grandpa!"
"Call me Aunt!"
…
A golden portal suddenly opened.
The five waiting in Mike's living room immediately looked over.
"Well?"
Tony rushed to ask, though his eyes quickly landed on the boy in Mike's arms.
"That's the kid?"
Mike nodded, smiling. "Things didn't go exactly according to plan."
Tony's eyes widened, and he exclaimed, "You killed the kid's mother?"
Mike's face darkened. "Say that again, and I'll end you."
Tony gave a sheepish grin. "Then what happened?"
Gwen stepped forward, cleared her throat, and declared, "This child is Clark's son."
"What?!"
Everyone cried out in shock.
Seeing their jaws nearly hit the floor, Gwen looked quite satisfied.
Mike waved away the portal, set Oren down, and with Gwen, explained everything in brief.
When they heard Oren's true identity, the group was stunned. And when Mike revealed his plan, the members of the Star-Breakers opened their mouths wide, exchanging glances as excitement flickered in their eyes.
The plan was simple and brutal, but only Mike could pull it off. It was far more reliable than anything they had come up with.
After confirming some details, the five members of the Star-Breakers departed.
Mike held Oren's hand and opened another portal.
"Where are you going?"
Tony quickly asked.
"I'm taking Oren to the amusement park."
Tony pointed at himself. "And me? What do I do?"
He looked eager, practically bouncing with anticipation.
Mike glanced back at him, reluctant to dampen his enthusiasm. Finally, he said, "You stay here on standby. There'll be an important mission for you."
With that, Mike and Oren disappeared through the portal before Tony's eyes.
