Chapter 28 - Chapter 28

Luna was over it but was beyond glad when William pulled up. He got out and opened the door for her.

She did not miss how he made eye contact with Ace, he was showing him that he would not back down.

Luna also hoped that all his other conquests would see that she had someone in her life and had no interest in Ace.

She climbed in, and they pulled out.

"What did that son of bitch do to you?"

Luna was surprised as to how he knew. "How did you know?"

"It's written all over your face."

Luna told him everything but the kiss part; she did not want William to go and start a fight that he could not win.

William's hand tightened on the steering wheel. "I will have a word with him."

Her eyes widened, and she did not want to put William in jeopardy, all for her. She wouldn't be able to live with herself. "Don't, he is not worth our time or energy."

"You think that I can't handle him?"

Luna sighed. "That's not what I meant."

"I'm not afraid of him, Luna. I will make sure that he does not bother you again."

"He has resources, William, and you know what I mean. He is not afraid and kills easily without feeling remorse. What will I do without you?" Her voice choked out.

He took her hand. "Fine, I won't."

Luna could see that his voice had gentled, and she nodded, "Thank you."

"But Luna."

"Yes."

"If he does anything, at least let me know so that I can comfort you. I want us to be honest and share everything.

She smiled. "That is a promise I can keep."

They got to her place,

"Can you come in?" Luna asked. She was afraid to be alone in case Ace came in. She wanted to get some rest.

William smiled. "Sure."

They went, and Luna was exhausted, and now she lay in William's arms and felt very safe. She knew that he held her because she was shaken. Luna liked that about him.

Luna fell asleep immediately. The following day, they spent it lazing around. Luna loved this as they were comfortable with each other.

Monday evening, she groaned when she saw Ace coming in with some men. Nora looked at her with pity.

"Luna, they want you." Said Kelly.

"No, I have assigned tables; that is the policy. We can't change it for one person."

"That's not how it works when Ace is here," Kelly replied.

"We have to follow the policy, Kelly. That is your table, so stop bothering Luna." Nora cut in.

Kelly nodded and left. She went to her tables and served them food. She went back to the front, and Kelly looked very worried.

"Luna, I told you so. He says he does not want to repeat himself."

"Well, I guess he won't drink or eat."

"Luna, you're getting me in trouble."

"That is not my fault, if you will excuse me. I have my tables to serve."

"We can switch tables."

"No, Kelly, I'm not."

Luna headed back,

"Luna."

She turned to her manager, "Yes, Sir."

"Kelly told me what is happening. Do you want to lose your job?"

"No, I'm following the policy that you put in place."

"With Ace, that does not apply."

Luna huffed in frustration. Why did Ace always have to get his way? Why was she supposed to bend at his every whim?

"So it's fine if I get harassed every day?"

"He isn't harassing you, Luna, You're overreacting."

So he would turn a blind eye as long as Ace was happy; that was all that mattered. "I'm overreacting? Me? When it's you who wants to force me to serve someone I am uncomfortable with. What about how I feel? What I want?"

"We will discuss this later."

"I don't want to because I know that the answer won't change."

"Fine, I will give you a raise."

Knowing her manager and how stingy he was, Luna knew that it would not be much,

"No."

"It's that or you lose your job immediately and walk out the door immediately."

Luna went to the front and put the tray down. She saw that Kelly was relieved, but she went to the back and packed up all her things.

She came out and turned to Nora, "I will text you."

Nora nodded, Kelly looked shocked, and her manager looked as if he was about to faint.

"Luna, we can......…"

She ignored him and stormed out, Luna felt very heated. She needed to walk so that she would calm down.

Luna dashed, not wanting that deranged man to follow her, and breathed out in relief when he hadn't.

Luna texted Nora when she arrived home. She decided to tell William later that she had quit.
