Year: 1407
Caesarian Empire
Province of New Rome
New Rome
New Rome Hippodrome
Emperor Leo V was at the first ceremony celebrating the discovery of the New World, from 407 to 1407, the Caesarian Empire had created the first firearms, cannons, printing press, steel plow, fertilizers, synthetic volcanic ash, reinforced cement, microscope, vaccines, disposable diapers and recently they created an object that takes pictures, called Divinum Lumen, the Caesarian Empire in a world beset by routine plagues that reduce the population to almost nothing, such as the Smallpox Plague of 1220 and the fearsome Black Death that ravaged Europe, both plagues caused by microscopic beings, with this the Caesarian Empire eradicated humanity's greatest enemy and began a new phase, which the Caesarians called it the Third Golden Age.
Emperor Leo V was with more than 100,000 people when the charioteers representing each faction arrived. For the first time in the history of chariot racing, an engine would be used for the race.
Leo V was with his son the prince Paulus Theodosius Junior, future Caesarian emperor Paulus I, but for now, at the age of 37, he was the Dux of Nova Antioquia, in the region of Nova Anatolia and was starting what would later be called permaculture and Paulus Theodosius Junior was the founder of permaculture which at that time was called the Cincinnatus Project, in honor of one of the leaders of the Roman Republic who, after settling accounts in the Roman Republic, returned to being a farmer.
The race began, the population was euphoric with the race because the champion of the National Race, Romulus Junior, representative of the Veneti, faced the champion of New Rome, Titus Libius, representative of the Indigo, a faction that has been gaining strength in New Rome since the late 14th century.
Meanwhile, Leo and Paulus were drinking wine in their imperial cabin and their father asked:
"Our empire has grown to a level we could never have expected, my son, a thousand years ago there were just over 1250 sailors led by our ancestor Paulus Magnus Theodosius, now we are more than 250 million Caesarian citizens, 150 million of which are Roman, do you understand what that means?" asked Leo.
Paulus took his glass of wine and replied:
"I know what you mean father, we have become bigger than the Roman Empire, in terms of population and great inventions both military and civil, but we are still the shadow of Roman civilization, we are their children, perhaps the most successful son of Roman civilization, we carry the burden of carrying the legacy of our ancestors and an eye to the future, not to be a zealot and not be a reformist, both have a wrong view of what happened in the past and what is happening, we do not know if the Europeans got rid of the Mongols or if they established themselves in Europe and so we will have to free our Roman brothers from the Italian Peninsula and the Eastern Romans from Anatolia from the Turks, we cannot deny the help of our Roman brothers whatever the situation, we must intervene in the Old World to save our Roman brothers." Paulus replied.
Leo drank his glass of wine and replied:
"We do not know what is happening in the Old World at the moment, I have information from the Chinese that Constantinople is in an endless twilight, there is news that the remnants of the Yuan Dynasty settled somewhere in Siberia and are advancing into Manchuria and Eastern Europe, fighting against the Khanate of the Golden Horde, the Roman states of the Italian Peninsula seem much more frank than Roman, they probably didn't lose any territory but I don't know why but, they speak a strange language other than Latin, I think they lost respect for our ancestors and speak a barbaric language. Maybe we should go there or not, I'm very tired of internal problems with the West Coast senators, the last thing I want is a bunch of Roman states from the Italian Peninsula annoying us with piracy or they try to embargo us, we must be careful to revoke the Lex Marcus Agrippa." Leo replied.
To avoid further conflicts, since his son was part of a generation that wanted to revoke the Lex Marcus Agrippa, but he, along with a good portion of the Caesarian senate, were against the repeal of the law, so he changed the subject and asked:
"How is my lovely grandson, Caesar? And what is this "Project Cincinnatus"? And how is your government of Dux, in the so-called "Avocado Province", in the region of New Anatolia, going?" asked Leo.
Paulus then takes the bottle of wine and fills his and his father's wine glass and replies:
"My son turned seven a few months ago, for his age he was able to speak a few words in classical Greek and can read and write our language correctly, he will certainly be a great leader in the future. Well, the "Cincinnatus Project" is something I have been working on since the end of my master's degree in agriculture. My project is just beginning, but I am sure that the work will soon bear fruit. The province of New Antioquia is without a doubt one of the most impressive in New Anatolia. The Mexicas and Tlatoani are receptive to us Romans, most of them still consider us deities because of the Divinum Lumen, the province is growing, it is among the five richest provinces in New Anatolia, recently we discovered a large amount of iron, this could mean that the "Avocado Province" is becoming the "Iron Province." Paulus replies.
Leo drank the wine that was in his glass and replied:
"I see that you are really focused on this "Cincinnatus Project", since your master's degree in agriculture, you are a patient and resilient man, you have everything to be a great Caesarian emperor." Leo replied.
The race ended with the winner being Titus Libius representing the Indigo faction and he received a laurel wreath and a prize of around 2 thousand gold coins and 10 thousand silver coins.
Leo and Paulus stayed a little longer at the Hippodrome of Nova Roma, to greet the citizens who were there, after that Leo and Paulus went to the Theodosian Palace, to go to sleep and prepare for the big party that would happen tomorrow.
New Rome
Marcus Agrippa Square
Now
Finally the big day arrived, more than 3 million people were in New Rome for the celebrations of the Discovery of the New World, representing the Ming Dynasty and nobles from the West Coast, Canada, New Cyprus and New Anatolia, were there Emperor Leo V and Prince Paulus stood on a dais along with the Classis of the East Coast and West Coast and the Magister Militum Marcus Belissarius, descendant of the legendary general Flavius Belisarius.
They expected a grand military parade, from 5th century armor of the first Western Roman settlers, to the legendary Caesarian Catrafractors, plus a contest on a song that would celebrate the thousand years of the Discovery of the New World and would be the opening of the official celebration of 1000 years of the Discovery of the New World and 1407 years of the anniversary of the birth of Julius Caesar.
The winner of the song contest was musician Marcus Gaius and his song, Hope in the midst of chaos, which was to be sung by opera singer Flavius Fabius who began singing the song for more than 300 thousand people in Marcus Agrippa Square.
Inter chaos, superviximus
In medio chao, vincimus
In medio tumultu, nos defendimus
Retro in longinquo saeculo quinto
Theodosius quidam in mare se immersit
Rebellionibus et peste obviam ierun
Usque ad diem XII Iulii, miraculum
Terra in conspectu, mundus novus
In terra sine Germanicis barbaris eramus
Deo gratias agimus, alii Mitrae
Eo tempore, Imperium Romanum Occidentale in ignominia et chao erat
Populus rubicundus appropinquavit
Mundus ibi nativitatem filiorum Theodosii vidit
Inter chaos, superviximus
In medio chao, vincimus
In medio tumultu, nos defendimus
Leo and Paulus applauded the opera singer and soon hundreds of thousands applauded, after which the singer withdrew and the military parades began and the population was euphoric with such a special date.
Leo looked at his son and said:
"This is the weight of history that we have to carry, we are the son of the Roman Empire that governs the New World, we have a duty to honor our ancestors and not to look down on them like the reformists , everything we have achieved so far was so that future generations have a goal of achieving the long-awaited Pax Cesariana, which the Caesarian emperor Paulus I dreamed, while the Caesarian Empire was just a state in formation, far from what it is today, a continental empire that has more than 120 million Romans, we cannot be the Roman Empire de Jure, but we are his most successful son." says Leo.
Paulus hugged his father and said:
"We are a better Rome, with trust, justice and loyalty, as our ancestor Petrus Theodosius said, we have to be the most successful son of the Roman Empire, not because of the shadow that hangs over us, but for the honor we have for the old generations and the future generations to come." says Paulus.
The celebration lasted until 11 o'clock at night, after which, the next morning news would arrive of pirates trying to plunder Dodo Island, so a good fleet of the Caesarian navy would be protecting the island.
