Chapter 10 - PRISCILLA'S POV: In the Cab

We slid into the cab Daniel and I side by side in the back, David in the front passenger seat, grinning at us through the rearview mirror. I laced my fingers with Daniel's, his warmth wrapping around mine as he gave a gentle squeeze. Even with David right there, the flutter in my chest wouldn't settle.

"I can't believe you're actually here," I murmured, leaning toward him just slightly, careful not to make things too obvious under David's watchful grin.

Daniel's thumb traced light circles across the back of my hand. "Neither could I. I've been counting down the hours." His eyes caught mine, soft, intense, unflinching. "The Spirit of God led me to you. It's all the Lord's doing."

Tears pricked at the corners of my eyes. "God answered my prayers," I whispered. "He gave me you."

Daniel pressed a kiss to the top of my head, lingering there for a breath. "I missed you, Priscilla," he said, voice low and raw. "More than I can put into words."

My smile curved shyly as I pressed my palm against his. "I missed you too… it's been hard not having you around."

He chuckled softly, cutting a glance at David, who was pretending to focus on the road but failing miserably at hiding his smirk. "We survived thanks to Quickie's endless commentary," Daniel teased.

I laughed, and Daniel leaned closer, his voice dropping to just above a whisper. "You know… I realized something while we've been apart. I can't imagine my days without you."

My heart skipped. "I… feel the same way," I said, breathless. "I thought about you every single day."

His grin was warm, sure. He reached up, brushing a stray strand of hair behind my ear. "Good. Because I don't plan on letting you out of my sight again."

From the front seat, David let out a dramatic sigh. "Enough with the mushy stuff, you two. I can't survive this level of cuteness."

We laughed, and I leaned into Daniel's shoulder. He rested his head lightly against mine, small, subtle, but it said everything.

"I love you, Priscilla," he whispered, meant only for me.

"I love you too, Daniel," I breathed back, my heart swelling so full it almost hurt.

"Eyesores," David muttered with exaggerated disgust, though the grin tugging at his lips betrayed him.

Our laughter filled the cab, hands still entwined, faith and love intertwining too. With the city rushing past us, it felt like the start of something new, careful, playful, and wrapped in God's promise.
