The setting evening spilled over the pack giving it a golden hue. The evening air caused the curtain to flutter softly. Isla stood quietly by the window,her hands wrapped around her chest as she stared into the garden.
She stared at the figure sitting under the pale glow of the evening. Kai sat motionless,his shoulder slumped as if he was going through the worst moments of his life.
"He's refused to talk to me" Isla whispered,her voice cracking as tears welled in her eyes. "I'm worried about him,Zade. I feel like he's hiding something from us. He's not spoken to me like he used to. He's just so… distant. I'm scared."
Zade moved closer, sliding his arms around her waist from behind, pulling her gently against his chest. Resting his chin on the top of her head,he inhaled her scent. Isla felt a little better in his embrace but it didn't alleviate the haunting feeling in her chest.
