Chapter 44 - Chapter 44: Anburoshia No Saisei Pt.1

With my trembling hand still tightly holding my neck, I lifted my staff and placed it right in front of me, making sure it didn't fall. As my staff stood there held by my other hand, I made my mana flow into it and back into me repeated, trying to replicate the permeating feeling I felt when I drunk the Healing Potion. As seconds go by not feeling anything I quickly added elemental mana into the mix rotating it between me and my staff.

From Water, Earth, Fire, Wind, Light, and Dark Elemental Mana, and from rotating those elemental mana from my staff and me, I felt that same permeating warm feeling from the elemental mana of Earth and Fire, but it felt off. It felt like it was a different kind of permeating warmth. I had no more elements, no more clues. I couldn't help myself as my body started trembling, I didn't know what to do, I only had two opportunities to get this right, if I mess this up it'll be the end of me.

My whole body was trembling, I could hear my body screaming, I could see my body wanting to fall down, I had to calm down, I had too!

"Lady Witch, Mirelle and Tsukihana will protect you."

I heard Mirelle's voice through the moment I lost my composure. I forgot, I still had them outside, they're still out there protecting me, believing in me like I believed in them protecting me. Being able to hear her voice had pulled me out of my panicked stricken stumper, and her words with complete confidence in me kept repeating in my head. It helped keep my thoughts straight and for a moment I had forgotten something important.

I'm a Witch

I had completely forgotten my unique job/class far surpassing most classes out there, something that was used to assist the Gods and walked along with the Gods as they assisted in managing the world. With these newfound sources, I immediately let go of the staff as it fell to the ground, my hand going through my dimensional pouch looking for the [The Witches' Primer], having felt the unique mana attached to it, I pulled it out and read through what I had remembered.

"Witches have a different set of Elements from what is commonly known and used by others" I found it, this is what I needed. As I continued to read the parts I remembered I also recalled the books I read in the Guild's Library about the Basic Elemental Mana along with the Unique Elemental Mana and started comparing the information and studying them as quickly as I could. Thanks to [Scholar] and [Parallel Thought], I didn't need to waste that much time on rereading the books to understand it.

The Witches had a unique set of Elements called [Witch's Arkana] which was comprised of numerous elements such as Wood, Metal, Spirit, Earth just to name a few, and the witches were able to use these elements as long as they had the skills and talents for it. Not wasting anymore time, I read the parts on how to manifest these elements. Normally one would use Mana by using her Body as a Medium and using the Mana inside you to change the surrounding Mana and Elemental Mana worked in the same way as it, albeit a bit different.

However, [Witch's Arkana] was a bit different. You form a connection to the Arkana you're good or talented at and then strengthen that connection through either a vow or some sort of ritual. Time was currently a luxury I couldn't spend on this; I had to immediately determine what Arkana (Elemental Mana) I needed.

My mind filled with determination, I took my staff and placed it up in front of me following what was written on the book, on how to move [Witch's Arkana] to my will. Fortunately, even without a proper connection to the [Witch's Arkana] one could still use it, albeit weaker and with less proficiency.

"Please..."

My voice was nothing more than a hushed breath, a feeble whisper. I had closed my eyes to avoid distraction, yet it felt as though they were gone entirely. My body, drained of all strength, could barely keep itself from collapsing onto the floor. And yet, despite the weight pressing down on me, I endured. I willed my mana to spread outward, threading it through the air, the grass beneath me, the ground where I sat—reaching for every [Witch's Arkana] present. Where the Arkana was absent, I stretched my mana even thinner, dissolving it into the very fabric of the world itself.

I could feel control. I had control. I had achieved what I needed. Without wasting any moment, I controlled the Arkana to enter my body and spread from one part of my body to another part, and as I went through each Arkana finding the one I needed, I found two Arkana who gave the same familiar permeating feeling I experience with the Healing Potion. Those Arkana being [Wood Arkana] and [Earth Arkana].

Finally finding the Element I needed, I recalled the Mana I had spread thin. Pulling the Mana back into me, I felt a weird tingling sensation came over me, just as my mana returned to me. Ignoring this for now, I continued my preparations. Drinking Mana recovery potion, and controlled my breathing to be steady, completely blocking out any outside distraction.

With [Verdant Staff] still in front of me, I was now completely ready to create a new spell.

I controlled my mana as I started imagining that same permeating feeling I had just experience, I let my mana spread thin again, letting it spread thinner, dissolving it into the very fabric of the world itself, I connected myself with the Arkana again, allowing the [Wood] and [Earth] Akana to spread to every nook and cranny of my body, keeping that permeating feeling in mind.

The image remained in my head, as I started to imagine life itself, wounds healing, and the way plant would grow in a tree bearing fruits and sustaining life. I keep repeating image of "life" in my head, spreading my mana even thinner and the Arkana in my body becoming clearer and more abundant.

"<<< From verdant leaves that cradle the sky—>>>"

As I started chanting, I let the clear and abundant Arkana in swirling in my body to move into my staff, making the mana I spread out to stand in place, to let the image in my head form another image representing "Life", as I continued with my chant.

"<<< From the quiet pulse of life's own thread —>>>"

The image of "Life" remained in my head, as I imagine another image of "Healing", the wounds on my body repairing itself, like a needle threading through fabric, patching up old and broken clothes, fixing what was broken.

"<<< And the breath of dawn where new light spreads —>>>"

I knew I had the images I needed in my head, now I only needed to finish the chant and hope I have enough mana to create cast such a spell and create the necessary requirements with [Creation Magic], fearing I would not have enough mana, I immediately drank a Mana Recovery Potion as I continued the chant.

"<<< By the will that shapes, by the hand that weaves —>>>"

The chant was now finally done, and the name of the spell came naturally to me along with all the knowledge and requirements that was created using [Creation Magic] to fill in the gaps. All I had to do now was call out the spells name and activate it. Thanks to [Creation Magic], I didn't need to test whether it worked or not, while it was in an incomplete phase it wasn't to the point I had to test it. It wasn't on the level of incompleteness that [Yashi no Seiiki].

"<<< [Healing Magic] — Anburoshia no Saisei >>>!!!"

Celeste sat there unmoving, her hands covered in blood, both of her hands trembling, her body on the verge of collapse. Yet Celeste weaved her spell, her lips moving in a silent whisper, her breath weak yet unwavering. Mana swirled around her, rippling like tides as it seeped into the air, the ground, and the very fabric of existence. She was no longer aware of her surroundings, unaware of the battle unfolding just outside her small barrier—only the spell, the intricate movement of her mana that had yet to take form.

Mirelle stood her ground, her two katana held firmly in both her hands, her emerald eyes flickering between the advancing gnolls, goblins, and an unidentified monster lurking and moving between other monsters. Mirelle lunged foward intercepting an incoming gnoll lunging for her throat. She sidestepped, driving one of her katana through its guts. These monsters had caught her and Celeste off guard once, but she would not allow it to happen again. Blood stained her katanas, but she had no time to wipe it. Lifting her katana up, blocking the goblins attack, stabbing her other katana into the chest of the attacking goblin before turning to Tsukihana.

Tsukihana had already torn through three more. She moved like a shadow, slipping through the chaos using the shadows of the monsters as portals and all its traits and abilities to its fullest, severing numerous limbs of monsters before vanishing into the darkness. Tsukihana's ears twitched, sensing movement before it even came. Shadows flickered, shifting through the trees, through the monsters, waiting for an opening. It was the unidentified monster.

But niether Mirelle and Tsukihana let their guard down. Celeste was vulnerable, completely immersed in her magic, and they would not let anything reach her. The two fought without pause, knowing that if even a single monster slipped through, Celeste's life would be at risk.

Mana again swirled and rippled.

Mirelle barely noticed at first, Tsukihana was too preoccupied, both were too focused on the battle, which had not slowed at all. The monsters had not relented, and Celeste had yet to move.

But then— Mirelle felt it.
