The world seemed to have hit the pause button. They watched Regigigas step out of the room- the ground rumbling each time its foot touched the rock-hard floor.
Conkeldurr returned to Alder's side, and Cynthia's Garchomp as well as Shenhe's Froslass also tightly guarded their Trainer. However, the thing that made Dante not know whether to laugh or cry was how Shenhe crept closer to shield him from Regigigas.
The gate slammed shut and the Legendary Pokemon now stood directly towering over them.
In this tense situation, Dante had the state of mind to wonder just how tightly sealed the room Regigigas was trapped in. Well, not technically trapped since the Legendary Pokemon had apparently escaped who knows how long ago.
However, the fact that it had walked over to the gate and opened it without any of them hearing or feeling anything was almost as if what lay betond the gate was another dimension altogether.
And the room did not just contain the sound and vibration- it even contained the heavy aura radiating from Regigigas.
The faint pressure that was only felt by him and some of the sensitive Pokemon in the team before, now, it had also been sensed by everyone. It made them realize just how overpowered this behemoth truly is.
Dante could feel how terrified some of the Trainers and Pokemon were- to the point he wouldn't be surprised if they couldn't muster the courage to fight back if this ever came to blows.
Fortunately, it seems that would be unlikely. From the moment Regigigas appeared, he didn't feel a shred of malice from the Legendary being. That's not to say that it has any positive feelings for them either, Regigigas just gave off an indifferent aura.
"Regigigas." (Humans, return from whence you came.)
Regigigas finally broke the silence. Its voice was deep and its many eyes flashed in a way that conveyed its solemnity.
Dante could hear relieved sighs from all around. Although they didn't understand the literal meaning of what Regigigas wanted to convey like himself, as Trainers, they still got the gist of it. At the very least, they knew this powerful Legendary wasn't aggressive towards them.
Alder was similarly relieved. He stepped forward, both arms raised to show he was no threat.
"Regigigas, we apologize if we disturb you. I don't know whether you've noticed, but a portal has opened inside your temple that connects to our world. We came here to discuss how to deal with it."
Regigigas paused, as if processing what Alder just said. Then, Normal-type energy radiated from its body and diffused outwards, crawling across the walls and floors of the temple. Everyone had no time to react as the energy passed by them, or to be more specific, most didn't even realize what happened.
Dante tensed up as the energy washed over him. He felt a familiar feeling arise deep inside. This was very similar to how Ninetales diffused her energy to sense the whole floor of a dungeon.
The energy diffused further out into the hallways and covered the whole temple.
However, Dante had no more presence of mind to care about that. Regigigas, who was maintaining an air of indifference the whole time, suddenly let out a malice so palpable it made his skin crawl.
And most importantly, that malice was directed towards him.
"Regigigas!" (Filthy human! What blasphemous things have you done!?)
Everyone, who had just been relaxed, suddenly tensed up again. And when they saw the white beam of light form on Regigigas' palms, their hairs stood on end.
Dante didn't know what was going on, but he was very sure the cause of Regigigas' wrath was due to him- it's hard not to think so when he could clearly feel its anger directed solely at him.
He didn't have any time to ponder the reason as the beam of light in Regigigas' hands grew to almost half the Pokemon's size. Judging by the power of that attack, once Regigigas released it, it would obliterate everyone.
"Stop it!" Alder yelled with great urgency. He couldn't figure out why Regigigas suddenly attacked. However, he knew he had to do him damn best to block it.
Dante, Cynthia, Shenhe, Ganyu, Kaeya, and some of the other Trainers thought the same thing. They commanded their Pokemon to launch a counterattack just as Regigigas released the Hyper Beam.
Stone Edge, Blizzard, Flamethrower, Shadow Ball, all kinds of moves were launched from their side and met the white energy beam released by Regigigas.
However, most of the attacks dissipated after just a slight impact. Only the Stone Edge thrown by the boosted Conkeldurr and Pikachu's Thunder managed to push it back. Even the stone flinged by Azumarill with his monstrous strength only caused a slight dent to the beam before the stone turned into powder.
With Pikachu and Conkeldurr's attack, the Hyper Beam was rapidly being pushed back. However, because the Stone Edge was a projectile thrown by Conkeldurr, its momentum began to weaken as time passed and soon, the stone dissipated back into motes of dark brown energy.
With only Dante's Pikachu to hold it off, everyone tensed up and prepared to once again help him hold off the Hyper Beam. However, the following scene that happened left them stunned.
Instead of losing ground, Pikachu's Thunder continued to push back the Hyper Beam released by Regigigas step by step.
Finally, with a loud "Pikaaa!!!" The red pouch in Pikachu's cheek unleashed more electricity, completely pushing back the Hyper Beam and hitting Regigigas squarely in its chest. The Legendary Pokemon stumbled backwards repeatedly, only stopping when its back collided against the gate.
The entire hallway went quiet. Everyone stared in disbelief at Pikachu who casually landed back on Dante's shoulder after unleashing such a powerful move.
But it's no wonder, really. Seeing a Pokemon less than half a meter in size stand up against a five meter Legendary and win was quite surreal.
Only Dante didn't find this scene surprising. Instead, after giving Pikachu a quick compliment, he stared gravely at the almost unscathed Regigigas.
With Dante's heightened IQ, he remembered quite clearly the stat distribution of Regigigas which he saw in the wiki of his previous world.
Regigigas' Special Attack is the lowest among all its stat, being even only half of its Attack.
Yet even with such low stat, the Legendary Pokemon had forced back the combined attacks of 18 Champion Pokemon with a Hyper Beam. Hell, Pikachu with his almost 200 Special Attack and Conkeldurr who had boosted its Attack to a similar degree only managed to force the energy beam back after some struggle.
However, after giving it some more thought, he soon relaxed. Most of the credit as to why even the Champion-level Pokemon struggled was due to Regigigas suddenly launching an attack. Caught off guard, they didn't have a chance to use any stat-boosting moves.
But now it's different.
"Volcarona, use Quiver Dance!"
"Garchomp, Lucario, use Swords Dance! Glaceon, Calm Mind!"
"Frosmoth, Quiver Dance. Froslass, Nasty Plot."
Taking advantage of Pikachu forcing back Regigigas, the three Champions and the two Elites had their Pokemon boost their stats.
Alder's Volcarona and Shenhe's Frosmoth used Quiver Dance and boosted their Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed by two times. Meanwhile, Cynthia's Garchomp used Swords Dance and similarly boosted its Attack to the max.
Their other Pokemon also followed suit, Glaceon and Reuniclus with Calm Mind, Beartic with Swords Dance, Braviary with Bulk Up, etc.
Dante's Pokemon were also not to be outdone. Pikachu used Nasty Plot and Agility while simultaneously triggering his Lightning Rod Ability, Azumarill used Power-up Punch, Mawile and Riolu used Swords Dance, Ursaring used Belly Drum and boosted everyone's attacks with his Cheerleader skill, and finally, both Eevee and Ninetales used Calm Mind.
The air inside the temple hallway whipped up into a gale as strength overflowed from these countless Pokemon. Seeing this scene, the other Trainers' morale soared.
So what if Regigigas is a Legendary? On their side, they have three Champions, Two Elites, and a Dante!
Even Alder, Cynthia, Shenhe, and Dante thought the same. Regigigas may be powerful, but they were no pushover either.
Regigigas, who finally recovered from Pikachu's attack, saw the Pokemon before him boost their various stats to the maximum. Seeing them ready to launch an attack, its countless eyes flashed before Normal energy once again rolled off its body.
"Be careful everyone!" That was the most Dante could say before the energy covered everyone in the field. The speed it spread was much faster than before, though fortunately, it doesn't seem to be harmful.
That thought only crossed Dante's mind for less than a second before it was replaced with horror when he realized what Regigigas' action meant.
"No. Fucking. Way." Dante murmured. Cold sweat dripped down his forehead and he subconsciously gulped.
In front of their group, the energy around Regigigas surged and multiplied countless times over.
Psych Up, a Normal type status move that allows the user to copy the stat changes of a Pokemon. Normally, it can only target one Pokemon at a time, but Regigigas broke that rule.
It formed something similar to a Domain around its body. And from the Pokemon within that Domain, he copied their positive stat changes.
And Dante and the others had all their Pokemon boost their stats. So now, except for its HP, Regigigas' Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed were doubled its already monstrous value.
Regigigas demonstrated what that meant firsthand. Its massive body moved at a speed that was incongruent with its size and arrived before him. Then, it raised its clenched fist and brought it down.
Dante, watching the fist descend before his eyes, belatedly realized that Regigigas' hatred for him hadn't waned in the slightest. Instead, being knocked back by Pikachu just made it worse.
Even before the fist arrived, he could already feel the compressed air prickle his skin. He tried to dodge and managed to take a single step back. However, in front of Regigigas' massive fist, that single step just meant he would be hit by its knuckles instead of its finger.
As the fist reached inches away from him, the world began to slow down. Memories from his previous world and this world began to flash through his mind.
The sense of wonder when he first watched the Pokemon series. The excitement he had as he chose his first starter Pokemon. The fascination that rose within him as he was introduced to the world of Competitive Pokemon. And in search of more Pokemon games to play, he was introduced to the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series.
His memories skipped to when he was transmigrated to this Pokemon world. Forming an Exploration Team with Pikachu, getting to meet his current girlfriend Shinobu, recruiting Azumarill from the Waterfall Cave, …memories after memories continued to flash in his mind.
From the fun but harrowing adventures in the Mystery Dungeon world, to the mundane yet joyful life in the human world- Dante recalled them all.
His flashback ended and he was once again face to face with Regigigas' approaching fist. With the power of this attack, his whole body would probably get obliterated, right? He wondered if the Reviver Seed could still take effect by then. Or would it even affect him in his human form? Hopefully it would, he still doesn't want to end his adventure in this world.
"Pikaaaa!"
Just before he was squashed into a meatpaste, Pikachu arrived in front of him with Extreme Speed. Pikachu tried to tackle the fist to the side but was unable to budge it at all. In the end, he could only flick his tail at the last moment to send Dante out of the way before the fist completely descended.
BOOM!
Alder and the others hadn't even realized what was going on. One moment everyone was bursting with confidence about facing Regigigas, and the next, the Legendary Pokemon's body burst forth with a ludicrous amount of energy and then disappeared.
What followed after was a large explosion from behind, with their Pokemon and themselves being sent hurtling through the air and colliding against the wall with a loud smack.
Alder nursed his bleeding forehead, stumbling to stand up with a grimace. He was lucky- Volcarona shielded him with his body before he collided against the wall. But he imagined the same couldn't be said for some of the Trainers who came with the team.
He tried not to think about the possible casualties among their team and looked back to see what caused this mess. The scene he saw made his blood run cold.
From where the explosion originated, Regigigas stood with its fist clenched. And before the Legendary Pokemon was a massive chasm that seemed to extend towards the core of the planet.
