Chapter 17 - Saving My Mother

I barely could shake my head when I turned around and realized there were about six of the security. They made at Brian, over powered him while one unlocked his chains and set him loose. They made sure they took away the chains and any weapon around him.

I was abandoned to gazing at them as they dared to put him to rest. The intense struggle left Brian grunting and groaning like a bull on the floor while the security endeavored to pin him on the floor.

"Ma'am, the billionaire wants you to know your way around the chamber," one said while the rest still struggled with Brian. "The chains often cut into his wrist and ankle that is why we often unchain him, especially at night and give him sedatives so he could sleep well at night," he elucidated yet further.

"Would he ever sleep well at night? Why would you put me at risk by unchaining the most violent mad man in Rio Hondo?" I nagged in my head as I scowled my face at what the other security were doing with Brian.

I noticed there were with intravenous injections, and soon Brian was calm as light and snoring on the floor after they injected him with another sedative. Gently they watched his convulsing body quell before they finally let freed their grip on him.

I breathed easily. My thudding heart quenched and profuse sweat all over my body started drying up with chillness. I was at peace within myself for the first time even though I knew the peace was going to be short-lived.

"If you don't mind, I would love to show you around right now," another said, taking the lead.

The security took me to the spacious, exquisitely decorated sitting room with gold-plated surfaces and cushions. The floor was original polished wood. We got into the five bedroom layout which had a mini pool in the masters. On the wall was a large frame picture of Brian, all dressed flamboyantly with heavy diamond chains on his neck like a musician with a microphone handy.

I stared at him with pity. He was still cute but much younger in the picture. His pink lips and dimples had always been there except for his long hair which was short now.

"Ok, Ma'am, that is all for now. These are the keys to the rooms and this is the chain and the key to bind him should he become violent".

"Should you need our help when he gets violent you can ring us with that phone," another of the security beamed.

I interjected with fear hanging on my face, "Excuse me do you expect me to bind him hands and feet should he become violent"? I asked at a breath, blinking anxiously.

"Yes, ma'am," he replied with an emphatic nod, "You are the wife now and very much closer to him…?

"Excuse, me, excuse me", I interrupted almost raising my voice "I can't do that. I mean he will over power me and harm me. I am definitely not going to do that, do you understand me?" I asked nervously toned down my voice not to wake him up and, noticed my fear had returned.

"No ma'am that is the billionaire's order. If you want it changed, you can meet the billionaire. We are only but security. If you don't mind good night ma'am."

"Hold on, hold on, hold on," I called and paced behind them but they feigned deaf ears and banged the door once they left.

"Oh my God!" I exclaimed and felt locked away from the entire world and the peace out there. I could hear the ear-ringing echoes of madness and violence within me and wondered if I would see the light of the next day.

Even I was scared to return to Brian and see what he was up to. Locking myself in the masters' room, I fell a bit safe and free to think about the marriage and my fate.

Thought of my mother struck me in the head and I agreed to meet the doctor the next day and pay up her hospital bills so that treatment would commence. I brought out the credit card once again, gazed upon it and argued if I was into this marriage for love or for money.

Ordinarily I wondered what would make me say yes to a violent mad boy. The photo album on the desk caught my attention and I reached to it and started opening page by page. Obviously it belonged to Brian because all the pages had photos of him handling a microphone and singing to a lively audience.

"Was he a musician or what?" I wondered and kept flipping through photos of him and the family until I came to the ones he had with his mother. RIP was scribbled on her image and I felt pained over such a damsel gone and dead.

Brian was a replica of his late mother and he could be termed beautiful because never have I seen a man so mad and cute like the flowers.

I slept off with the album on my thighs, and at dawn, I ran straight to the hospital where my mother was admitted.

"Where the hell have you been, Melissa? Your mother has been mentioning your name and calling on your help," the doctor intoned, shooting his frown at me.

"I am sorry, doctor, can I see my mother now, please," I obliged and wiped the sweat surging down my face, as I gasped for breath.

"Do you have the money? Your mother is dying, and if you don't have the money, I suggest you wait for her death…"

"God forbid!" I rejected and fondled into my hand bag." Please doctor, my mother must not die". I flashed the credit of one million dollars at him, "Your half a million dollars is in there! I want you to commence treatment immediately. Please do your possible best to save her. She is all I have now. She is the reason I am going through this struggle."

The doctor interjected "What struggle?" he gave a suspicious gaze at me and then the card.

"Never mind doctor. You have the money now. Please save my mother. I don't want her to die. She must stay alive for me …" I broke down in tears "Please."
