Chapter 230 - 230. Still Getting Judged

As the Dragon Slayers wait for Acnologia's remaining power in his blood to seep into their magic, the 5 Dragons feel their time has reached the last line.

They can't enter their foster children's bodies again, but they can give them their remaining power. So they transfer their last bits of power to their children, startling the 5 3rd Generation Dragon Slayers.

"Our time is up, so this is the last thing we can do."

"If even Acnologia's blood can strengthen your magic, then our magic that you've learned surely has greater effects."

"The Bringer of Calamity might have disappeared, but it's not over yet for you guys."

"Your lives are still far from over, so you will face more enemies that will push you to the limit."

"Always be strong and don't stop improving. Our bodies might not be with you again, but we will keep watch over you. We might die physically, but our legacies will still live with you."

They say goodbyes to their children while transferring every bit of power they have left. They even turn their physical bodies into magic power to be transferred into the Dragon Slayers' bodies, so there's no corpse left.

This is also to prevent anyone from misusing their corpses. Dragons like them know very well how valuable every part of their bodies is to humans. So to avoid future problems, they'd rather destroy their bodies.

The Dragons take a glance at Alex and nod before looking back at their children again as they disappear. This is surely devastating for the 5 Dragon Slayers. Wendy even cries loudly because they lose their parents for the 2nd time.

But at least now they know where their Dragon Parents are and even have the chance to talk for the last time in a good situation. They can at least mourn now and move on from this.

After the Dragon disappears, Alex suddenly falls on his face, startling everyone. They quickly rush over to check and find out that he is sleeping. He has forced himself and received a lot of damage as well, so he's obviously very tired.

Everyone sighs in relief because they thought he had a very bad injury. Though they can't be certain because it can be an internal injury, so they still need to check it.

Fortunately, there are some medics here who can check his condition. They find his injuries that are quite bad, but nothing life-threatening, so they are relieved.

For now, they bring him to the Battle Fairy carefully while waiting for the Dragon Slayers to finish. Wendy can heal him later with her magic, so now they are giving him first aid.

Everyone looks around and sees how great the effect of that battle is. Almost everything they can see is destroyed. Trees fall and are broken, big craters everywhere, even mountains are also destroyed.

There's no need to even ask the conditions of the wild creatures in these areas. All of them fled, but most were still in the range of the battle's effects. Many died, many injured, very few came out unscathed or managed to leave the impacted area.

Fortunately, human casualties are very low. Nearby towns and villages have been evacuated with their countries' help. The only ones falling victim to the great battle were those who were in the forests or mountains for various reasons.

Among them are Dark Mages who have hideouts in the forests or mountains, hunters, or even criminals hiding in the wild. Well, there might be innocent people among the victims, but it's unavoidable because they couldn't think of protecting everyone in such a grand battle.

Besides, if Alex didn't stop Acnologia, the damage would be much greater. More people would die because no one could stop him. This result is already the best they could hope for.

Even so, the Council still tries to find fault in this case. They call Alex a week after the battle when he's already recovered to be asked about a few things, like the reason they attacked Tartaros and if it had any connection with Acnologia's appearance.

"Why did I attack Tartaros? Well, because I found their HQ location and could find them. Do I need a reason to destroy a Dark Guild composed of demons?"

When Alex returns the question like this, no one from the Council can answer it.

"I have hunted and destroyed Dark Guilds for years, so obviously Tartaros, the strongest of them all that controlled many sub-guilds was my worst enemy. Dark Guild hunting is always encouraged by the Council, especially for those that have caused a lot of casualties. Tartaros is on top of your list, so why are you doubting my motive for attacking them when I had the chance to?"

The officials are at a loss of words because it is really just as Alex says. He doesn't need much reason to attack Tartaros. In fact, he should be rewarded, not questioned like this because Dark Guilds have bounties on them.

"Cough! Then, do you know the reason for Acnologia's sudden appearance?" They try to divert the topic. Alex knows it, but decides to collaborate.

"I have an assumption. When I defeated Mard Geer, I sensed an ominous magic power, and I found Zeref there. We fought obviously and soon after, Acnologia appeared. Coincidentally, when Acnologia appeared 7 years ago, Zeref was also lurking around our exam location, and we fought Grimoire Heart. It made me assume that most likely, Acnologia was drawn by chaos and Zeref's magic power. Chaos alone isn't enough because he never appeared in different wars, and Zeref alone also isn't enough because Acnologia doesn't chase Zeref all the time. So there should be war that stirs up the magic power in the atmosphere and Zeref in the dame place. It would attract Acnologia's attention because I'm sure Zeref who has lived as long as him and never died was his nemesis. The problem was none of them was our ally, yet they chose to fight in our place."

The officials and even the Wizard Saints present start to talk about it after hearing Alex's explanation. They just realized that it really is a possible theory because it's too much of a coincidence for Zeref to appear during both of Acnologia's appearances.

"That really makes sense. But why would Zeref suddenly appear in both cases? Surely you don't have any relationship with him, right?" A Fairy Tail hater among the official asks.

"We have a relationship. Enemies, mortal enemies even. I have long suspected that he was the main reason Acnologia attacked us back then. So obviously I would hate someone who endangered my people. I don't know why he was on Tenrou Island, but I suspected that he appeared on Tartaros HQ because we wiped out his demons. Tartaros demons are demons created by Zeref, after all. So he should sense that we were killing his demons and came. Though I am also glad that he was there. I forced him to fight Acnologia with me, but he was not serious, maybe because he can't die. So I grabbed him and used him as a battery to charge my magic power. I didn't expect he could escape from my Sealing Magic though."

Most of the Council officials already have good opinions toward Alex and Fairy Tail now. But some who still don't like them keep trying to find fault in his action by implying that his rash action to attack Tartaros was the cause for Acnologia's appearance.

"You sure talk big for being so incompetent by letting their spy live free with you for years and even have a high position. How's Crawford doing? Do you give him a good living space again?" Alex smirks, making them lash out angrily.

"Eh? Why are you mad? Are you his companion?" Alex narrows his eyes in suspicion, making those who lash out become stiff instantly because the others also start looking at them suspiciously. So they cough and sit again silently.

"I think that's enough talk about Acnologia. We can already conclude that his appearance was a coincidence. No one wanted it to happen. The bigger issue here is Tartaros." Draculos, the current 1st rank Wizard Saint takes over the talk, so no one objects.

They have gathered information from Crawford, Tartaros's spy in the Council. So they already know Tartaros's plan, which included the murder of some Council members, who were the keys to activate Face, a weapon that can nullify magic all over the continent.

It was a very dangerous plan, so they really should be glad that Tartaros failed to execute it. If Alex didn't stop Tartaros and found the spy, then without a doubt they could activate Face or at least kill some Council officials.

With the Wizard Saints taking over the discussion, they finally start talking about how to improve the security mechanism of Face's activation, which is much more important than just trying to find the mistake of their Continent's savior.

They talk about it for a while and even ask Alex's opinion. He surely says they better destroy Face because it's a double edged sword than can harm them more than their enemies. After all, it can't affect power other than Magic, power like Curse.

Ishgar's Mages can only use Curse, but their enemies like Alvarez can use other power. At the very least, with some Demons from the Book of Zeref as in their ranks, they have some Curse users who won't be affected by Face.

If they attack, then it will just be their side who suffers and they can't even fight back because they don't have magic. The drawbacks far outweigh the benefits.

While many agree, they still can't come to any conclusion. So they move to the last topic. They want to make Alex a Wizard Saint and immediately take the 1st rank.
