Edward didn't say a word as he read through page after page of the file Louis had composed. I laid down exhausted and highly humiliated. I regretted letting him see the file but- I didn't know how to explain it. He was the only person I had.
If he read it he could understand why I needed to let him go. He'd accept it easier if he knew the full truth and I could try to go back to salvage the little bit I had left. It would be easier knowing his family wouldn't think I was with him for money.
His face was neutral as he read through it with concentration I didn't know he had. His blue eyes read line for line as if it was simply a blog post.
"Is your Dad in some sort of trouble?" He finally broke the silence as he closed the file then rested it on the bedside table. He ran his fingers through his hair then leaned back against the headboard. "Why would he do this?"
I pressed my lips together and shrugged, "I tried to find out."
