It was already dark by the time they got back in the car after dinner and finally drove out of the city.
"Are you sure we should be going now?" Damien asked, leaning back on the leather seat. It was very comfortable, far more than any car he had driven or ridden in before, with adjustable heating and AC. He could even set up his seat to heat up, or for the AC to blow on his legs… It seemed fancy cars weren't just for shows, but also had their own perks.
"Hmm?" Lane glanced at Damien, a bit confused. "Why not?"
"Well, you said it's a four-hour drive, right? And it's late already."
"So?"
"It's dangerous to drive at night."
"Dangerous?" Lane burst out laughing. "Night is the best time to go for a drive!"
"What? How come?" Damien furrowed his brows. "The visibility at night is much lower. I get that as a high-ranking Esper you have superior vision and reflexes, but that doesn't change the fact that there are more hazards…"
