Chapter 288 - Chapter 288 -

[Chapter Size: 2300 Words.]

Third Person POV

Skellige.

...

...

A glow appeared inside the castle, with Severus and Ciri materializing as the scenery before them was pure snow, a storm having taken over the entire castle.

"Madara, this..." Ciri exclaimed as the cold, snowy wind battered their clothes.

"Ciri, hold on." Madara said, clapping both palms against the ground. From the floor, roots emerged around Ciri, holding her in place.

Madara did not stop as he formed a sequence of hand seals. When he finished, he activated a wind-style jutsu, creating a vortex emanating from his body. It quickly grew, preventing Ciri from being thrown backward only thanks to the roots securing her, while all the snow began accumulating and swirling around the tornado created by Madara. Even the bodies of dead men began to appear, along with monsters screaming.

Ciri could see men of the Wild Hunt and their hounds being tossed through the air at that moment.

The snow, being lighter, began to be pulled from all across the castle, concentrating only in the area where Madara stood, creating a vortex so powerful that, in addition to lifting heavy bodies around him, the snow from the entire castle was dragged toward it.

Madara deactivated the jutsu and released Ciri's bindings before grabbing her and leaving the place, with all that accumulated snow about to collapse onto them.

With a tremendous crash of everything falling, Madara left the room with Ciri. She slid out of his arms and immediately raised her sword as some members of the Wild Hunt came to see what was happening.

"You handle part of them." Madara said, creating the Wood Multi-Clone jutsu.

Ciri didn't need to answer; she vanished instantly and reappeared among the enemies, beginning to cut them down with ease, while their armor was simply split apart by Ciri's blade.

Madara created several clones that quickly began spreading throughout the castle, passing through the windows and doors of that room, while one headed directly to their bedroom where Eira, the baby unicorn, was.

Some of the clones returned to the room where he had released the wind jutsu, while the spiked hounds and members of the Wild Hunt were still trying to recover after being sucked into the vortex. All of them were caught off guard by explosive kunai that struck before they could react, scattering their bodies amid the explosions.

When Ciri finished eliminating more than twelve enemies, Madara went to assist her, joining her to finish off the remaining ones.

"We have to find Geralt and the others. They may be in danger." Ciri said immediately.

"We're going to the main hall," he said, and she nodded.

Ciri nodded quickly and took his arm, teleporting them directly to the place where they were most likely to be.

When they arrived, the snowstorm had ceased, but there was still a large amount of snow accumulated and spread across the area. Madara had not been able to pull everything with the vortex, but even so, he had canceled the Wild Hunt's weather spell throughout the entire castle.

They could now clearly see what was happening: Geralt was fighting against a man nearly eight feet tall, wielding a massive axe, while Yennefer cast spells beside him against several creatures.

Throughout the hall, the bodies of Skellige warriors lay fallen, while others still fought. It was also possible to see Crach with his two children in a corner, with Hjalmar and Cerys battling men clad in skeletal black armor.

Madara and Ciri wasted no time. They advanced together, cutting down the enemies in front of them, forcing the foes to turn. One of Madara's clones entered the place through the window to assist, while the others continued spreading throughout the castle to provide support wherever needed.

Geralt, in his fight against what seemed to be a commander of the Wild Hunt, cast a telekinesis sign, throwing the massive body of one of the monsters against a table, shattering it into splinters. When he turned back, he saw Ciri and Madara ravaging the enemies, and his expression eased for an instant, realizing they were beginning to gain the upper hand.

"Vaen'na dh'oine!" [Cursed be you!] roared the massive warrior of the Wild Hunt after being thrown back, frustrated at being pushed by Geralt.

The storm had disappeared, taking with it the advantage they once held on the battlefield. They did not know how it had happened, but they understood that some powerful sorcerer had interfered on the side of those inferior humans.

Then, he turned and couldn't help but choke at the sight, truly stunned as he observed the hall.

All of his soldiers were falling, nearly dead.

A pair of humans — or what seemed to be humans — were massacring his warriors with frightening ease.

The girl teleported, appearing among enemies, striking their blind spots, piercing their armor as if it were made of paper with that strange sword glowing with some powerful force.

And the man fighting alongside her moved in a way he had never seen before. He spun through the air, striking with absolute precision, his curved blade wreathed in purple lightning, just as lethal as the girl's bright green sword.

"Zireael." [Zireael...] he said upon seeing the girl move again, just as another member of the Wild Hunt had when they first saw Ciri. However, seeing his men fall as if they were nothing made him nervous.

He had heard reports of a group that had been destroyed by dragons and another that had been wiped out by a boy capable of breathing fire. A Navigator had also vanished in that last incident when returning to the site, after all, the boy who seemed powerful had turned into a humanoid tree when killed... Therefore, they had arranged two attacks at the same time. If there was something extremely dangerous in the world of those humans, they would not split up while searching for the Zireael.

"What are you looking at?" a voice sounded beside him. Geralt attacked immediately, and the elf swung the axe, but the witcher ducked.

"I'm your opponent. Shouldn't you be paying attention to me?" The yellow-eyed human mocked the member of the Wild Hunt.

He irritated that commander, who dodged the next strike.

The axe came down vertically, attempting to split him in half, but the witcher twisted his body and cast another sign at the elf's leg, making him lose balance. Geralt advanced and struck the elf's arm with his sword, opening a tear in the armor and cutting into his flesh. With a cry, the creature dropped the axe.

"Vaen'na dh'oine..." [Cursed human...] he growled, frustrated, seeing Geralt prepare to finish the blow and sever the elf's head.

"Wait. Leave him alive," Madara's voice echoed through the hall, stopping Geralt from cutting the elf's neck at the last moment.

Everyone slowly relaxed, now that no enemies remained alive except that commander — tall, in heavy armor, and with a threatening presence, as all the leaders of the Wild Hunt did.

"I want to read his mind," Madara said. Geralt understood immediately.

"Dhe vae dh'oine aep feainne canaeth tir ennas aep Aen Elle?" [You think an inferior creature like you can read the mind of an Aen Elle elf?] the elf snarled, speaking in the ancient tongue.

"Nae. Ess'taep tir ennas lath lately. Vell ennas aep viellen aep were aep gwyn; if you invade others' worlds, I can visit yours." [Yes, I can. I've been reading your people's minds quite a lot lately. I want to find a way into your world — since you like invading others so much, I might as well pay you a visit.] Madara replied in the same language.

The elf was surprised by the human speaking his tongue so fluently, but Madara had no interest in conversation. His Sharingan ignited, and he forced his way into the commander's mind.

In the next instant, the creature collapsed dead on the floor, frothing blood through the gaps of his armor as a mental security seal activated.

"What happened to him?" Yennefer asked, approaching, seeing the blood trailing down from the visor.

"Elves place a safety spell in the minds of their commanders so their information cannot be stolen. I thought he had told you that," Ciri replied, crossing her arms beside Madara.

Yennefer simply shook her head.

"That's not important now. What matters is that my clones will handle the last of them that came here looking for Ciri. And there were at least three commanders and two Navigators inside the castle." Madara answered, serious.

The members of the Wild Hunt were not something Madara needed to worry much about. They were weak, in truth, compared to him — but irritating enough. They could teleport and travel to places where most people would not be able to deal with them, like here.

At that moment, the door to the great hall opened. King Bran, Mousesack, some guards, the queen, and Bran's son appeared; Bran had an injured arm.

"Are you all right?" Mousesack muttered, with one of Madara's clones coming in right behind him.

"Those bastards appeared all over the castle during that new wave of storm. One of them cut me, but I killed him," Bran growled, while the druid approached, worried but relieved to see Madara and Ciri there.

"I am sure you had something to do with the storm disappearing. With it, we would have been in truly bad shape..." he said with a faint smile.

They approached closer.

"What are these creatures? Why are they attacking us?" King Bran asked without hesitation, and the others gathered around as well.

"They are the Wild Hunt," Geralt said plainly.

"They are here because of me..." Ciri replied, seeing many bodies on the ground — servants and Skellige warriors alike, some she had spoken to several times over the past month.

"This is not your fault!" Geralt intervened.

"It's true. This has nothing directly to do with you, Ciri. What we can do now is eliminate as many of these bastards as possible. My clones are destroying the remaining ones throughout the castle; I also gave the order to capture one of the Navigators. We'll kill the other and all the commanders," Madara said, crossing his arms.

"You said those damned elves are after your power to invade other worlds. Well, girl, you don't need to blame yourself for that. We will protect you," King Bran told Ciri, who nodded, though reluctantly; she still felt a bit of guilt as she squeezed Madara's hand for comfort.

It took some time, but soon the castle became calm, with no more sounds of battle nor cries of dying men.

One of Madara's clones appeared in the hall carrying a large body over his shoulder, dropping it before the gathered crowd.

"This was the last of them and also the only Navigator. The other almost escaped — I had to throw a kunai to blow his head apart before he could get away completely. If they learn what happened here today, the elves will become cautious and won't open portals here again," Madara said, releasing Ciri's hand and kicking the Navigator's head. The helmet flew off, and the elf awoke with a startled scream as he was injured.

Madara wrapped the Navigator's body in wood, leaving only the head exposed like a shell, trapping him there.

"What do we have here?" Madara said, placing his foot on the elf's chest, who looked a bit frightened.

"What an ugly creature..." Cerys muttered beside her father, looking at the elf as pale as snow.

"Vael'ta ennas es'tael aep tir vaen'naen we?" [How about you tell us how to reach your world?] Madara asked calmly, already knowing what the response would be. The elf seemed shocked to hear his own language coming from a human.

"Ess'tael? Nae. Dh'oine dh'oell... vaen'na dh'oine." [As if I would speak... cursed inferior being,] he snarled. Yet Madara could feel the worry in him. They had invaded that world seeking a single person — and now, in this world, a man who had slaughtered their soldiers wanted to learn how to enter theirs. If that was not cause for concern, nothing would be.

Madara turned his gaze to the others, ignoring the elf's insults.

"I can't find an answer in their minds that lets me use teleportation magic directly. But it has to do with a staff. And I can't handle it," Madara said, grabbing the staff the clone had brought and handing it to Mousesack. "Maybe you can figure something out."

The druid nodded, intrigued. Now he had four of those staffs — it would be wise to create preventive measures to stop portals from being opened inside the castle again.

"I'll take a look at this..." Mousesack replied, taking the staff with him as he prepared potions for the king's arm.

Madara turned to Bran.

"If you want this prisoner, he's yours. You can put him in the dungeons and display him however you like. After a failed attack like this, he's an acceptable trophy." Madara shrugged.

Bran nodded, still pressing his injured arm, while Yennefer used healing magic to ease the pain.

Once everything was resolved, the castle finally began to calm. Guards collected bodies, villagers were tended to, and the storm had completely ceased. Madara also healed Bran with his chakra.

Madara approached Ciri.

"We should leave Skellige." he said, clear and direct. Their time here had come to an end.

Ciri's expression faltered. She knew exactly what that meant.

The time for their separation had arrived.
