He planned to kill the newcomer without using his Lifeline beast because the authorities knew his Lifeline beast.
The members were already on the run. If his actions were exposed, it would further enrage the governors.
He then reached the front area. He used the help of his Lifeline beast to confirm the presence of the target.
After knowing that the target had entered one of the rooms, the old man smiled. He then entered the building and decided to search the rooms one after another.
But there was no need for that. Normally, Lifeline beasts can sense the presence of living things.
