If she had continued to confront him, Dave wouldn't have felt much else, but when she cried, and it seemed like she was really heartbroken, Dave instantly felt like the worst person in the world. He immediately forgot all the reasons for their argument and just wanted to do whatever it took to stop her from crying.
"It's my fault, all my fault. I shouldn't have left home and made you worry..."
He immediately started blaming himself without any principles, and it seemed like the person in his arms was crying even harder.
He quickly pulled her into his arms again and tried to comfort her.
"As for your transfer, it's not like I can't discuss it. I just don't feel comfortable with you going away alone, and I can't bear to be apart from you. But if you really have to go, then go."
Under the emotional onslaught of his beloved's tears, Dave began to compromise without any principles.
