Bella looked at the huge dark blue monster in the video, her beautiful eyes filled with excitement.
Wow! She loved it so much!
The massive body and the blue light flashing on it—how beautiful and mysterious it would be in the deep sea!
Old-Fashioned: Of course, as long as it's a Pokémon, it can theoretically be captured.
Old-Fashioned: But Wishiwashi is special. A single Wishiwashi is extremely weak. To become a strong fighter, it must have the Schooling Ability, and it also requires the right environment.
Inside the Pokémon House, Ethan fell into deep thought as he looked at the pictures sent by Ryan.
He was analyzing Wishiwashi's Schooling Ability. In the games, only certain Wishiwashi have this ability.
When a Wishiwashi reaches level 20 or higher and its HP is above 25%, it transforms into its School Form.
A single Wishiwashi has a base stat total of only 175—the lowest among all Pokémon—but in its School Form, it reaches an impressive 620!
The difference between these two forms is a massive 445 points, the largest stat jump of any Pokémon transformation.
The Pokédex describes School Form Wishiwashi as having "power comparable to the monsters of the sea" and that "even Gyarados flee when they see it."
But reality is different from the game. Not every Wishiwashi can use the Schooling Ability, and even those that can may have a limited number of fish to gather.
The Wishiwashi Totem in the video was an extreme case, amassing a huge number of Wishiwashi to create a terrifying oceanic behemoth.
And...
"It shouldn't be like Zygarde's ability to summon its cells. That would be unrealistic."
Ethan pondered this for a moment before shaking his head.
Wishiwashi's ability simply gathers a large number of fish together. In the wild, where schools of Wishiwashi are plentiful, this works fine.
But if someone captures a Wishiwashi and battles in a stadium's water arena—where there are no additional Wishiwashi—can the Schooling Ability still activate?
Would the fish just... fly in from the ocean?
Zygarde's cells could travel across the world at high speeds, but Wishiwashi couldn't do that.
So while Wishiwashi was an incredibly powerful Totem Pokémon in the wild, it wasn't a practical choice for competitive battling—unless the fight happened at sea.
"Sakura Nation..."
Ethan smirked as he watched the messages flood the group chat.
He wanted to take action, but this time, the poachers had already been dealt with by Totem Wishiwashi. Otherwise, Ethan wouldn't have minded personally visiting Sakura Nation to make an example out of them.
A public display of strength was sometimes necessary to deter foreign interference.
This could have been a great opportunity, but the poachers had simply been unlucky, provoking Wishiwashi instead.
Breaking News!
At 2 PM, an official announcement from the Magic City government went viral.
Magic City Official Statement:
*"This afternoon, several poachers from Sakura Nation were caught in the East China Sea. They have been arrested and are now in custody.
Regardless of nationality, we will continue to severely punish poachers according to Daxia's law.
Let this serve as a warning to those who would break our laws—step into our territory, and you will answer to us!"*
The implications were clear—this warning was aimed directly at a certain island nation.
As soon as the news broke, the Daxia internet exploded.
"Hell yeah! Magic City, you guys are awesome!"
"I saw the video too! Those poachers got wrecked! The Pokémon sank their boat in seconds!"
"Not enough. I say we should thank that Pokémon personally by giving it more poachers to crush!"
"Seriously? If they can't enter Magic City legally, they think they can sneak in and poach Pokémon? Check their backgrounds! I bet they're more than just 'fishermen.'"
"Obviously! No normal fisherman sails all the way from Sakura Nation to fish in the East China Sea. These guys were definitely operatives."
"Damn, why couldn't that sea monster have finished the job?"
Online, it was like a national holiday. The Magic City government's statement spread across the entire Daxia internet in minutes.
It was the year 2202, and while many Daxians enjoyed the pop culture of Sakura Nation, that didn't mean they overlooked history or politics.
And so, with waves of laughter and celebration—
The long-awaited day had finally arrived.
The Finals of the Magic City Tournament!
At 10 AM, the Magic City Center Stadium was packed.
Meanwhile, the official Pokémon House livestream had an overwhelming number of viewers.
"Mom, something feels different today."
In the audience, Sean adjusted his grip on his cheering stick and glanced around. Though the stadium was always lively, today felt... different.
"Of course," Maya replied. "It's the finals. Everyone's been waiting for this day."
This was the moment the entire Magic City Tournament had been building up to for two months!
Over the past few days, the Magic City government had heavily promoted the finals. Now, the tournament had reached peak popularity—everyone knew about it!
Online, the hype had reached absurd levels.
One foreign fan even posted, "If Bella wins the championship, I'll livestream myself eating a wasp!"
Edward had seen the post and given it a big thumbs-up.
And then, as the excitement reached its peak—
A young man with a clean-cut appearance stepped onto the stage, alongside the familiar big-backed Host.
Beside him floated a radiant Diancie.
The moment they appeared, the stadium and livestream chat exploded.
"OH MY GOD! MR. ETHAN AND DIANCIE!!"
"Holy sh*t, Ethan actually showed up! This is huge!"
"Ethan's been a recluse all tournament! He only showed up for the opening ceremony!"
"AHHHH! Ethan, I'm coming to Magic City in two days! Bless me with a Dratini!!"
"When will Diancie battle?! I NEED TO SEE IT IN ACTION!"
"Ethan, protect me! I'm going on an adventure tomorrow! I need a Feebas!!"
The crowd went wild, while the livestream chat filled with spam messages begging for Ethan's "blessing."
"Hello, everyone. Long time no see. I'm Ethan, manager of Pokémon House."
Ethan smiled, his voice carrying across the stadium.
"You're all incredibly enthusiastic, and I appreciate it."
With a slight smirk, he added, "And for those calling me a recluse, I'm ignoring you."
Who needed to go outside when he had Diancie?
"By the way, Diancie won't be battling today. Give up on that dream—she's my little princess."
Pfft—
Hearing Ethan's words, Maya and the others couldn't help but laugh.
**"Now, back to the main event. The Magic City Tournament has finally reached the finals.
First, I want to thank all the trainers who participated. No matter the result, you are all amazing trainers.
But today, we determine the final champion.
Who is the strongest Trainer in Magic City? I'm excited to find out, and I know you are too!
I will personally witness the birth of this tournament's first champion!"**
Ethan then handed the microphone to the Host, giving a slight bow before stepping back.
"Now, let's welcome our finalists!"
"Bella!!"
"Ryan!!"
As the two competitors stepped onto the field—
The stadium erupted.
