Chapter 1 - THE BEGINNING

Late at night, a dripping roof and a very wild thunderstorm made it kind of obvious that something unusual was going on... deep in the woods maybe.

It was quite late around 1 am and Sandy had just showered and cleaned up after coming from work. Long night shifts at the hospital kept her sleep to bare minimum and she was hoping that at least for today she could have a tireless day. Yes, she was a 1st year resident struggling to make a living.

Just as she was preparing for bed, she heard a gunshot, so loud that it seemed to pierce her eardrum. Here she was, in the dead of the night, in an apartment where she had barely lived, alone and completely creeped out. It would probably be an understatement if she said she was terrified.

"Take care of them, please"

The last word came stranded as if she had never uttered that to a soul before.

And the light in her eyes was gone as if it never existed. The pouring rain began to come down as a silver curtain in its furious rage as if it was mourning for the loss of its woman. Sandy was left alone in that dark place with just a small child in her arms. No, she said them. She quickly began to unwrap the cloth but only found a young girl. She checked the baby's breathing and pulse and made sure she was fine.

Then a cry came, very distant but it was there. She plunged forward and in the bushes she saw another child, a boy.

"Eve and Damen" , she whispered
