As the Chitauri Mother-ship was entering the Earth through the portal, Iron-Man received a call from Nick Fury.
"Those smartass have decided to nuke New York. It will be coming in around a minute."
"After our work is already done? Well, I know where to put it."
That's why Tony didn't close the portal yet.
Even if the nuke exploded high up in the sky, New York will still be destroyed. And the nukes that exploded fairly high up in Hiroshima and Nagasaki are nothing compared to modern nukes.
But, at the same time as the mother-ship entered Earth's sky, Iron-Man started guiding the nuke towards the portal.
"I can't nuke the mother-ship! The explosion will be too devastating! You guys slow down its descent, I am sending off the nuke!"
Thor flew with his hammer and tried to stop the mother-ship from crashing down on earth and causing Dinosaur-like extinction event, by making his hammer float directly under the ship and slowing it down.
The mother-ship broke into several parts and started falling.
Silk started weaving stretchy and strong webs around structures to catch the ship.
Spider-Man, knowing that his webs aren't strong enough to hold the falling debris like Silk, started evacuating the civilians.
"Cap, your shield! Sorry about that!"
He threw the shield to Cap, and Cap frowned as he saw blood smeared on it.
Thankfully, Spider-Man hasn't directly killed anyone, and the blood was just Silk getting her nose smashed.
Well...Hulk rampaging definitely killed a lot of SHIELD/HYDRA Agents, and Spider-Man sped up the alien invasion while being under mind-control.
Hawkeye started sniping the other falling ships from the portal and exploding them in the sky.
Black Widow was using Quinjet to shoot down the falling mother-ship parts and slow them down.
Banner was standing around. Hulk was not coming out since he wasn't interested.
Professor Selvig was knocked out, and Maria Hill was near the portal, ready to switch it off at Tony's signal.
Just as Tony slipped the nuke into the portal, he shouted, "Shut it down!"
He held his breath and used his repulsors to enter back into Earth.
With the nuke gone, the problem was still the mother-ship and its parts.
Thor went to Silk, "Get on me!"
Silk jumped on Thor's back, and shot her web on Mjlonir.
"Fly up! I am going to use your hammer as an achor for my web-net!"
She started making a really big net of webs.
On the other side, Iron-Man started shooting at the falling things from the ground. He was still a little disoriented from coming from the space.
And as Banner caught sight of a Leviathan, Hulk finally came out again.
Hulk clapped his hands, slowing everything falling down. And then, jumped really high.
"HULK SMASH!"
He smashed the falling Leviathan into the ground.
The remaining debris fell on New York. But slow enough to not cause damage capable of wiping out the city.
Thor slowly let Mjolnir down so that everything caught in Silk's web and the main weight of the mother-ship that it is holding was slowly brought down to the ground.
Nick Fury finally came out with the Hellicarrier, his face grim.
One of the nuclear powered F-22 disobeyed his orders to stand down, on the Council's order to nuke New York.
Phil Coulson has been killed by Loki inside the Stark Tower.
Even by optimistic estimates, atleast some 5,000-10,000 people died.
And now, an entire alien army is lying dead in the middle of New York, with all sorts of advanced technology.
And even most importantly, Spider-Man is far stronger than he thought. He may not have Hulk's brute strength, but he is a very difficult opponent because most of the Avengers can't land a hit on him.
And this means that Silk is also as dangerous, if not even more.
Loki was arrested. Thor put some sort of mouth collar(?) on him? He was still completely covered in Silk's golden webs.
"I assure you all. Loki will face trial in Asgard, and never bring any harm to Midgard ever again."
Thor reassured everyone as SHIELD rummaged through the building and found the broken Sceptre. Which they believe is the weapon and caused Thor, Loki and Silk to become more powerful and develop some abilities.
Rumlow held out a briefcase to Silk.
"The energy stone."
"Yeah, no. SHIELD just tried to nuke New York. As if anyone in their sane mind will give it a big power source."
Captain America also nodded, "It is precisely because SHIELD was trying to make weapons out of Tesseract that drew these aliens in."
Nick Fury was also suspicious. Sure, he is a subordinate of the Council of SHIELD, but given that they decided to nuke New York, especially after most of the threats were taken care of, he wondered if something is going on.
And most of all, he didn't want the team that has formed during the tough time to fall apart due to internal issues.
But it's not as if he can just hand over the energy source to Silk.
So, he made her an offer.
"Silk, how about joining SHIELD? You will be incharge of protecting the stone."
He needed someone with superpowers at his side for the bad feeling he was having.
Silk thought about it.
She wants to take control over North Korea. And just doing that isn't enough.
Since SHIELD will be falling soon, she might as well take some important personnel with her.
During Civil War's events, she will officially take over North Korea and start preparations against Thanos.
"I will think about it. Honestly, I think SHIELD should be declared a terrorist organisation for trying to nuke New York. I am never going to gloss over the fact.
But for now, I am heading to Asgard with Muscle-head to make sure that Loki gets proper punishment.
Mr Stark, Cap, keep an eye on SHIELD."
I said to Cap telepathically, 'There are HYDRA moles in SHIELD. Do not engage for now until I return.'
Tony is rather impulsive. But he picked up on 'keeping an eye on SHIELD' that it is behind his parents' death.
'For now, I am going to get compensation from Asgard. To get myself a weapon which can properly use the Mind Stone.' she thought to herself.
Nick Fury looked at Stark and Cap, and realising some hidden communication, nodded.
"Alright. For now, let's think of a name for the team. How about Avengers? Afterall, we avenged our people who died in this alien Invasion. I lost Phil Coulson, one of the best and most trusted amongst my people."
Tony rebutted, "Nah. How about we prevent these things so that it doesn't even have to come to Avenging?"
Silk sighed, "You all can debate, for now, I am leaving."
She looked at Barton and told him telepathically.
'Keep my family in your off-grid safehouse. Tell them that I am safe, and will be coming back in a few days.'
She can't exactly call her family right now and risk their location be traced. And Dark Elves will invade Asgard soon. So she needs her weapon beforehand. Because after that, the Dwarves will be massacred by Thanos when Odin stops protecting them after the death of his wife and goes to Earth.
"Alright, Muscle-head. We should head out. Spider-Man, want to come too? Loki messed up with you a lot. It would be pointless if we don't get atleast a ton of gold."
