Chapter 44 - Forgotten Shore: Day: 204 "Lord of the Dead(2) There is no Second Chance"

I was originally going to write a chapter in the perspectives of the other teams but, I can't think of a way to monologue it enough to reach even a 1000 words. And I'm going back to third person, I find it a good chunk easier and more my style.

Honestly, if I knew I was going to develop the chapter like this, I would have added it to the last chapter.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Keter could feel every ripple as the thousands of explosions went off, most of them arrows. As team 3 was supplied with thousands of wooden arrows, while some of the arrows were memories, they were the minority. The wood that made them was not normal; it couldn't have been. They were made from Kido after all.

Keter felt the carved stone beneath him begin to slowly collapse from the pressure. And as Keter kicked off and away from the dust cloud, it fractured under his every step. His gaze fell upon Gunlang, shifting golden form as it began to rapidly expand, flowing out like a tsunami. Keter stood at his side protectively as the winds began to grow harsh. Originating from four separate points the first from a sleeper who currently held [Windmaker](Cassie's Staff) and the other three from sleepers who held wind-related aspects. The vicious winds curculated like a whirlpool, drawing all the wood dust around the terror.

The sleepers scattered towards the walls, gathering in larger groups as they prepared for what was to come. The tens of bone tendrils that were once striking at the army of sleepers retreated back to the Lord of the Dead as it sensed the incoming danger. Soon enough, the flood of gold surrounded the fallen tyrant, wrapping around it like a dome. The mass of gold writhed as the fallen terror lashed out as the fear of something greater embedded itself with its corrupted core. The army watched in anticipation as the Keter voice dominated their ears.

"NEPHIS!" Keter shouted as he ran towards the golden dome, as a ball of blazing white fire shot towards him, scorching the ground as it went. Keter reached towards it as a miracle formed within his hands with a rune right in the middle, "Trap". A bubble formed around the fireball and swiftly condensed as Keter reached the golden dome. Keter didn't stop, though; instead, the dome seemed to welcome him as it easily let him through its walls.

His hand, the last thing to breach the dome, as soon as he did, he crushed the bubble, sending the flames flying in every direction. And instantly, the flames came into contact with the dust, causing an immediate combustion of white hot flames. The force of the explosion collapsed the floor beneath them and sent Keter straight into the wall of the dome. The heat of the explosion reached well over 3,000°F. [Blood of a Demi-Giant] kept Keter's body from crumbling under the enormous pressure, and [The Light] made this kind of heat feel more like a sauna than anything else.

Keter felt his bones creak as he stood up he felt his torn muscles slowly string themselves back together. 'Fuck, my head is spinning.' Keter thought as his eyes swiftly readapted to the now lightless void in front of him. 'I didn't hear the kill message?' Keter saw the charred and ashen bones of the tyrant curling around itself as faces began to emerge from the bones, thousands. Their screams of anguish sounded throughout the dome.

Keter smiled at the sounds of the screams, as his hand raised with his weapon in tow. Keter easily cleaved his way through the weave of bones to its inner core, a rotting heart. Keter snorted as he grasped the heart. "To think you were attempting to use the flesh of sleepers to bring yourself back to life. Well, it matters little; you get no second chance." Keter crushed the rotting heart as the golden dome collapsed around him.

[You have slain a fallen tyrant: The Lord of the Dead]

[You have received memory: Starlight Shard]

[Your light grows brighter]

[Your echo, Orpheus, ability Lord of the Dammed has been enhanced]

Keter watched as the charred bones slowly turned to ash and drifted through the air. Keter sighed as he thought, 'Well, it seems it's time to confront the army.' Keterspun around easily catching the flag as it fell from the decaying terror.

Keter's arms spread wide as a gruesome spread across his face. He raised the flag high as its light shun across the battlefield, healing smaller injuries, grasping everyone's attention.

"I HAVE NOT LIED, FOR TODAY WE GRASPED VICTORY WITH OUR OWN HANDS!"

"WE HAVE SLAIN THE TYRANT, WE HAVE AVENGED OUR FORMER COMRADES, WE HAVE WON!" Keter summoned the [Starlight Shard] in his free hand and raised it high.

"TODAY WE HAVE RECLAIMED A PIECE OF OUR HISTORY, TODAY WE HAVE RECLAIMED THE GLORY OF OUR PAST, AND MORE. FOR WE WON, WHILE THEY FELL TO THIS TYRANT!" Keter stood tall for moments, allowing the silence to bring peace to the weary souls of the army. Keter slammed the flag down as he started once more.

"TOMORROW WE WILL MARCH SOUTH! WE WILL MARCH TOWARDS THE HOLLOW MOUNTAINS TO RECLAIM THE LAST PIECE OF OUR LEGACY! AND THEN, WE WILL SLAY THE SPIRE!" Keter screamed as he imbued what power he could into the flag. causing another surge of light. Keter watched as smiles and realization began to cross the sleeper army's faces.

"WE WILL HAVE GLORY!" Keter screamed for the final time.

"GLORY!"

"GLORY!"

"GLORY!"

"GLORY!"

"GLORY!"

"GLORY!"

Keter contioned to fan the flames, and only once he looked up did he realize there was a greater problem at hand. Cassie stood upon the surface with fear crossing her face. 'A new vision perhaps?' Keter thought as worry began to fill his gut, 'It matters not, I need to meet with her anyway.' As soon as the worry appeared, it was eradicated by [Distant]. 'This is abnormal. Why has my flaw been getting stronger recently?' Keter's emotionless gaze swept the cheering army. 'We're getting closer, wait for me, Morgan.'
