The Black Dream Key stood frozen in place, her breath suddenly ceased as she stared at the hero, who stood rigidly upright.
Around them, not a soul was to be found. The forest, far from the main road, was rarely visited by humans and seldom plagued by Magic Creatures; even the common birds had been scared away by the earlier commotion.
Yet the hero, who should have been trapped by the Black Wall and at her mercy, calmly stood her ground. The fallen leaves at her feet were stirred by a gentle breeze, and the forest of Linxia was devoid of even the slightest chirp, as tranquil as her gaze.
In her eyes, not only was there the original pure blue, the irises were tinged with a pale gold, and the very center of the pupils transformed into a mirror-like pure gray, reflecting the half-smiling, half-crying expression under the veil of the Black Dream Key.
The Black Dream Key recognized this gaze.
