Seeing the young matron's stunned expression, Ji Yuchen's heart lurched. She quickly stepped away to put some distance between herself and Qin Fan, her heart pounding as she called out again.
"Ah, yes, yes—!" Yan Huixian finally snapped back to reality, answering several times in a row. She let go of the cake trolley for the nanny to handle and walked toward Ji Yuchen.
"Yuchen, happy birthday! Come, let Mom give you a kiss!" As if she hadn't seen Qin Fan fastening the Green Bead Chain around Ji Yuchen's neck just moments before, Yan Huixian cupped Ji Yuchen's flawless, exquisite face and planted a kiss on her cheek.
"Mom, stop it! So many people are watching!" Ji Yuchen protested, her pretty face blushing crimson.
"What's the big deal? You're my daughter, my sweet, caring girl. What's wrong with a little kiss?" Yan Huixian laughed charmingly, dismissing her concern.
