The silence spread like suffocating air, instantly enveloping the entire living room, from left to right, from inside to outside.
There is a line in a certain novel:
"Love without material wealth is just a pile of sand; you don't even need the wind to blow it apart, just take two steps and it scatters."
Interestingly, the female protagonist who delivers this line is not only a top student but also a rich heiress, someone who entirely lacks nothing in terms of money.
In our typical understanding, only people who are very short of money would care excessively about it. Logically, when a person is wealthy, they shouldn't be so concerned with material things.
But the reality is quite the opposite.
The more one has experienced a life of abundance and seen the scenery at the top, the more they value material things. Their indifference to money only extends to small amounts or those amounts that do not affect their quality of life.
