Upon hearing the name 'Lance' from the speaker, the mayor was slightly surprised, but soon infuriated.

Under Director Dale's watchful gaze, Lawyer Robben arrived at the car with a group of bailed out individuals, slightly bending over with a face full of ingratiating smiles, "Mr. Lance, I have brought everyone out, and if you need anything further, feel free to call me anytime."
He liked clients like Lance, wealthy and quick to pay; most importantly, his "troubles" were never-ending.
Endless troubles meant that Lawyer Robben could continuously get new tasks from Lance, resulting in new payments.
Additionally, most importantly, whenever Lance needed him to clear some connections, it essentially meant using Lance's money to maintain his own network.
