Chapter 69 - Goddess of Light

Nephis was paralyzed. Everything happened so fast that she didn't even know what to do.

First, it was the Underworld. Then Asterion appeared—the one who orchestrated her father's death.

And yet, no matter how much she despised him, she had to acknowledge that he saved them.

But it didn't end there. Out of nowhere, Raphael joined the battle, annihilating a quarter of their army. If it wasn't for Anvil confronting him, they would have lost.

But even Anvil lost. That was already a foregone conclusion. His enemy was an immortal monster, after all.

With Anvil on the brink of death, Mordret took the opportunity and achieved his long-awaited revenge, ascending to supremacy.

And then the true monster moved. A single strike—just one—was enough to instill fear in all their hearts. Even she felt despair in that moment.

If that monster had fought from the beginning, would they have stood a chance?

The answer was no.

Then why didn't he fight earlier? Why wait until his army was defeated?

It was a question only the monster himself could answer.

For the first time, Nephis truly felt she should drop her sword and accept defeat.

But everything changed when the dome of darkness shattered, and the one she loved—Sunny—faced that monster after achieving supremacy, while she stood still, lost in despair.

She looked away from Sunny and turned her gaze to the sky.

She knew what she had to do… but she was terrified.

No matter how used she was to pain, she still feared it.

The pain of burning alive was the worst kind. She had known that pain her whole life. But what she was about to do would be a hundred times worse.

She was afraid—but she also knew she had no choice. That was the burden she had accepted as the savior.

She looked at Sunny one last time and said, "I have a lot of questions... What's the slave thing? How did you achieve supremacy? But for you to answer me... we have to survive first, right?"

Summoning her white wings, she smiled at Sunny from afar.

She might not survive. She might fail. But at least she would fail trying.

And thus, the Daughter of the Broken Sword soared into the sky…

Returning to her origin—into the flames of destruction.

"Insane... This is insane!"

Sunny gritted his teeth, swinging his sword again. But before the strike could reach Nether, he dodged and counterattacked.

Sunny quickly raised his sword to block Nether's hands.

But then, Nether struck him from the side with his legs, sending him flying.

Sunny spat out blood—something he thought he'd never do again.

'He's not even taking me seriously...'

No matter how much he attacked, Nether never used any abilities. Not even his Will.

[He doesn't need to, Sunless. This is his domain. He sees everything—past, present, and future. Nothing escapes his sight. That's the power of destiny.]

Sunny rushed forward, speaking to Adam in his mind.

'Then we just need to weaken his domain, right?'

[Yes.]

He already had a plan for that.

Reaching Nether, Sunny poured his Will into his sword and swung down.

Nether dodged to the right, only to block another thrust from behind.

From every direction, five more Sunnys materialized, circling around him.

'Now!'

Suddenly, a massive temple manifested from thin air.

Standing at its gate was another Sunny.

Nether looked around silently.

Sunny inhaled deeply—and all eight Sunnys attacked at once.

From the front and back, two Sunny clones struck—one swinging vertically, the other slashing horizontally, leaving Nether nowhere to escape.

But the next moment, both were flying through the air.

'What just happened?!'

Sunny clenched his jaw and rushed in again.

From the shadows, a beast emerged—seven horns, four arms, and a massive frame.

Sunny, now in his Shadow Spawn form, punched with the strength of a Supreme Titan.

His punch broke the sound barrier and reached the speed of light.

But Nether blocked it with ease.

That wasn't Sunny's goal. With another hand, he grabbed the wrist of the arm that blocked his punch, locking it in place.

From above, a massive serpent descended—its jaw open wide, ready to devour both of them.

And again, Sunny found himself inside the serpent's mouth, flying away.

'Seriously, what's going on?! What is he doing?!'

[He did nothing. He's just so fast that time itself can't keep up. To put it simply—his speed is beyond time.]

'Is that even possible...?'

[It is. When your control over Will becomes flawless, anything is possible.]

Then how the hell do I hit him—let alone beat him?!

[Simple: match his speed.]

'Easy to say... hard to do!'

Still, Adam was right. There was no other way to reach Nether but to become just as fast.

And Sunny took pride in his speed.

All of Sunny's shadows returned to him, engulfing his body.

Buffed by eight shadows, his strength and speed multiplied eightfold.

Sunny stared at Nether and breathed in.

He was a shadow. And shadows have no fixed form—they endlessly change.

And if his form could change... so could his Will.

'What am I...? I am fate. The inevitable. The unchanging outcome.'

His Will began to shift—and he wasn't the only one who noticed.

Deep within Sunny's soul sea, through their connection, Adam poured his Will into Sunny's.

With Adam's domain over Fate, Sunny's Will became more refined—sharper, stronger.

Finally, he opened his eyes.

'I am Lost From Light!'

He dashed toward Nether.

At first, Nether didn't move.

But then… he did.

Nether blocked Sunny's sword and tried to throw him away, but Sunny vanished into the shadows—only to reappear on the other side.

He rotated midair and struck Nether, forcing him to step back.

There was no damage—but Sunny grinned.

He had reached him.

Sunny raised his sword, ready to strike again—then stopped.

'What the hell...?'

His domain… he felt it overlapping with another.

'No... not overlapping. Coexisting.'

Sunny looked up—and his mouth fell open.

'Nephis?!'

In the clouded sky, a new sun emerged.

White flames blazed across the heavens.

In the center of the sun... the silhouette of a woman.

Everyone beneath it burned in brilliant white fire.

And the impossible happened:

Even the shadows burned.

Then… the blazing white sun descended.
