Chapter 15 - "Heart on the edge"

Jade walked beside Sun, trying to act casual, but his thoughts were miles away. Every little thing about Sin kept replaying in his mind—the curve of his smile, the way he held Jade's hand when they crossed the road, the quiet warmth of his presence.

"Sun… I like Sin a lot," Jade admitted, his voice low and slightly hesitant, "but I don't know how to tell him. He's handsome, he's cool… and I'm pretty sure he likes me too. Have you seen the way he holds my hand? I think I'm in love."

Sun's eyes widened. "Hmmm… I think he's just being friendly. I don't think it's love."

"It is! Have you noticed the things he does with me? Has he ever done them with you?" Jade pressed, frowning.

"Like what?" Sun asked, curious.

Jade's chest tightened as his mind drifted back to the past few days. He remembered Sin's shy, hesitant voice: "Jade, there's this person I like a lot, but I don't know how to tell them… I think I'm in love. Am I stupid?"

At the memory, Jade's face flushed uncontrollably. "It's me! He likes me too!" His heart had felt like it might burst, and he had smiled like a fool, completely lost in happiness.

Later that afternoon, the memory sharpened. Sin had been asleep on the couch, breathing slow and even. Jade had felt a strange pull toward him, irresistible and soft. Slowly, almost trembling, he leaned over and kissed Sin gently on the lips.

Sin hadn't stirred—deep in sleep—but something in the gentle pressure of the kiss felt alive, like a silent acknowledgment. Jade's heart raced, a mix of excitement and guilt flooding him. He had pressed a little closer before finally letting go and slipping into sleep himself, a small, satisfied smile on his lips.

Back in the present, Jade shook himself out of his daydream and turned to Sun, lowering his voice.

"Sun… I have something to tell you. Hope you won't tell anyone," he said, nervous but excited.

"Okay, okay. I won't tell him, I swear on Sin's life!" Sun raised his hands dramatically.

Jade laughed, shaking his head. "Nah… not on Sin's life, my friend. You can swear on anyone else's life, but definitely not Sin's."

Sun blinked, then leaned closer. "Okay… okay. Tell me then," he said, curiosity sparkling in his eyes.

Jade took a deep breath, letting the memory of Sin wash over him once more before speaking. "I kissed Sin while he was sleeping… and he kissed me back. That's how I know he's in love with me. He also told me he met someone new that he loves—aka me. He didn't say it outright, but I just… I know it's me. Isn't that sweet?"

Sun's eyes widened. He stared at Jade, stunned, as if trying to process what he'd just heard. Then, frowning slightly, he asked, "Jade… are you sure you're okay? You sound… different."

Jade smiled softly, a warmth spreading through his chest. "Yeah… I'm fine. Everything I just told you is true."

Sun shook his head, sighing. "I'd advise you to pull back from this fantasy, or you might end up breaking your heart."

Jade chuckled, heart fluttering at the thought. "Fantasy or not… I'm not letting go of him."

He glanced again, almost unconsciously, at the empty space where Sin had been earlier, a small, lingering smile on his lips. Somewhere deep down, Jade knew: this was only the beginning.
