In the path to the dungeon, they decided to stop at a nearby city. Only George entered as his beasts had become too big for the city gates. Kas's size was now equal to a behemoth and Typhon's appearance would make even a though man cry.
The city of Halriven bustled under a late afternoon sun, the warm light turning stone walls golden and the air thick with the scent of roasted meat, spicebread, and pipe smoke. George pulled his cloak tighter around his shoulders, still caked in dried blood.
He strolled through the market, watching merchants haggle in open stalls and children dart between the crowds with sticky fingers and wild laughter.
"Oi, traveler!" called a portly merchant with silver rings and a bald head reflecting the sun. "You look like a man who needs a new sword. Or ten."
