In a Luxurious apartment in Monaco, France, Selene sat at the window, looking out into the streets. Her cat sat beside the flower vase, it's eyes fixed on the kids playing below, on the next rooftop. She held a blue handkerchief and looked at it intensely. As she sat, someone opened the door quietly and walked over to her.
" Has boss called you yet?" Selene asked.
" Not yet. How's your wrist?" the person asked. She was called Vio but most regarded to her as V. She was also part of the Light, also an assassin like Selene was. She and Selene were agements and childhood colleagues.
" The wrist will heal....and you?....you okay?" Selene was concerned. V gently sat at the window, lifted the cat and rested it on her laps.
" Am good....am just puzzled!" V replied.
" About?"
" Boss said we are the best products that the cult has ever had. But.....how come we were unable to even lay a finger on Quint? Is he that dangerous?" V asked. Selene thought for a while then looked at the handkerchief and sighed softly.
" He's no ordinary man. But then.... there's this other guy!" she spoke softly, folding the handkerchief in her palm.
" Who?" V asked.
" I don't know who he is.... never seen him before." she replied.
" Not even in the cult history?"
" I haven't seen him there"
" Is he bad?"
" He's something else....when we fought, he didn't even move his arms. Yet he pinned me down so easily...it was as though he was playing with an infant!" she explained, raising her wrist to the sunlight.
" So Quint and that guy must be accomplices.....this will make it harder than I imagined." V exclaimed, resting the cat back to the window.
" It doesn't matter now. If we don't get the job done, boss we'll be really cross!" Selene spoke up in a serious tone. She then stood up gently and looked out through the window. The streets were busy, cars were stuck in the red lights. Across the street, just opposite the apartment, stood a large mall called Vida Monaco. As she stared out of the window quietly, her eyes landed on a familiar figure. The figure wore a light cream attire, that's a short sleeved button shirt and a gentle trouser with cream slides. His hair was dreaded and neatly knotted backwards.
" I know that guy!" she exclaimed softly, hardly making a clear statement, almost as if she was murmuring to herself. V thought she had heard her say something, so she drew closer to her and looked out the window too. " What you saying Selene? Is everything okay?"
" Yeah. Everything is fine." Selene replied softly.
" Could you drop me off at the street please? I need to get some stuff from the mall real quick." she added, looking at V in the eye. V did not respond immediately but then nodded in acceptance. She felt Selene was acting off but couldn't know what it was exactly. The two then left the apartment and into V's car they drove off. V drove Brabas 2025, an expensive lifestyle kind of car. In a few, they were at the mall's entrance. Selene quietly came out of the car, her eyes fixed on the large swipe glass door infront of her. She had changed into a short flower dress and this made her look even more elegant. She was a young lady of class, generally a person that others would regard as young and independent. V on the other hand, was no much different, just that her sense of fashion was a bit manly.
" Should I report back to Boss or are we still in Monaco for a while?" V asked, fastening her seatbelt. Selene thought for a while then replied, " We're still in Monaco for a while".
" I'll call you!" she added, sighing and then walking into the mall. V started the engine and then drove off. On entering the mall, Selene looked around for a spot she could sit at. Luckily, a bar stood at the end of the shopping hall. It kind of looked like a small classy restaurant where people had option to get drunk too. She quietly walked through the different stalls, looking around and scanning the environment. She was taught how to do it and in a less suspicious manner. Soon she was at the counter, face to face with the attendant.
" Bon après-midi", the bar attendant greeted respectfully.
" Bon après-midi", she replied with a smile.
" Que puis-je Vous offrir?" he asked, shaking an expensive bottle in his left hand, and setting a glass with his right.
" Je prendai un whisky aux myrtilles, une tranche de citron." she answered softly.
" Okay!" the attendant gestured with a smile then started preparing the drink for her. Meanwhile, Selene scrolled through her phone quietly, setting her phone to flight mode. The drink was soon ready and set for her with a straw. She picked it up and stirred it simultaneously with the straw, then took a pull of it and rested it back onto the counter. She then suddenly smelt a familiar scent near her. She knew this scent! This gave her cold chills down her spine. The same feeling she had had days back, when she encountered that skilled man at the Jauves club. Her heart raced and this frustrated her. Having to fear something before you could even see it, really puzzled her. She rested her phone onto the table in attempt to turn and look but before she could, a voice spoke from behind her.
" No need.....am already here. Quite a talent you have there. I knew I should've changed my fume." It was Ivan. He sat over at the counter and pointed at Selene's drink, a gesture enough for the attendant to know what to do.
" Bon après-midi, Miss!" he greeted, without looking at her. Ivan had a tattoo of a flaming bird on the side of his neck. His beard was well trimmed to match with his flashy hairstyle, the knotted dreads. Selene hesitated for a while, then raised her eyes to look at him. She actually didn't know what to do at this moment. It was like she was facing a possibility of her end. Ivan was then served his drink with a straw. His eyes looked gentle but furious at the same time. Selene was afraid of him but at the same time, she didn't know why she suddenly felt comfortable around him. She couldn't keep her eyes off his face.
" Bon- Bon après-midi" she finally responded but casually. Ivan let out a smirk then picked up his glass and tilted the straw.
" In your head you must be like..' He's going to be fetching this life of mine'..... isn't it?" Ivan exclaimed, carefully observing the glass that he was holding. Selene did not know what to say. The man infront of her had earlier on mentioned that he would not let her off with their next meeting, and now he was here, no distance between them. ' Why did I even follow him here ' were the questions in her head.
" If you're to take the life....do it already!" she replied strongly, faking the courage. Ivan looked at her closely and then smiled. He placed down the drink then turned to face her directly.
" Tell me....how old are you?" he asked, maintaining strong eye contact.
" A man of your status wouldn't be so clumsy as to crave for such information." she responded, repositioning herself.
" I don't actually crave for such useless Intel...am just so amused, amazed and surprised." Ivan replied with a smile. He then looked at the attendant, then to his drink, smiled and pushed it away gently.
